Great to see that you have rethought your pricing.
Dispite all your listening I am sure you only listened to customers voting with their feet.
It was obvious to anyone with any management experience that customers would leave in droves if you tried to charge 4+ times the amount of your competitors.
You've still lost customers, and been forced into matching your competiters, when you could have probably charged a higher flat rate, as you do provide the best service on the net. Someone has seriously damaged your business with very bad advice.
If you used management consults you should demand a refund, and if it was internal, who should we expect to see going.
Still welcome back to my computer

I agree. Thank you, Jeff! The ones who are still po'd should move on. Hop on over to IF. I am staying. I have used Auctiva for 4 years, with very few problems compared to what I have heard about the other sites. I always assumed the day would come when you would have to charge. I am ok with it.
There are those who would not be happy even if you could go back to free. I appreciate you working with us. I know of no other company where the CEO would do that. Kudos to you, Jeff. I am very happy to be staying here.
To all the grumblers, give him a break. He realized his mistake, listened, and is righting it. And, I do not care about all the reasons "why". I admire him for that. If you cannot accept his offer, there are plenty of places to go. As for those of us that are staying, lets get on with it. Get on with making some $'s! (((Hugggs))) to you, Jeff!

Thanks so much for listening! We are all human and make mistakes, I know I have made my share! Time to move forward and start listing my stuff!

Appreciate the Auctiva Staff and the Community Forums. I really like the Auctiva format and didn't want to leave. Glad I hung in there!!

I asked this last night...no answers...but several posts from the "too little, too late" group.

OK, two questions:

FIRST, I only use Auctiva for image hosting; I do NOT use the templates, listing tool, auction management, e-mailing, etc. I upload pictures, and copy/paste the picture URLs into my own "template", as needed....

SO, if the 500Mb offered by the $2.95/month plan is enough storage for me, is that what I should sign up for?
I think so...

SECOND, I'm not sure why everyone is so happy about going from $0/month to $9.95/month, particularly if you only use a portion of the 1GB, and various services offered...I know there would be a lot of work to transfer to another company, so that doesn't need to be done.
(also, FYI, I.F. had tools up to transfer auctions in a couple of days, and has a 6.95 plan...and NOW a store offer for free, also)

And gee, just think: Auctiva goes from $0 income from their users, to ~$10/month from maybe 500,000 customers (if that's the customers that still remain), netting a cool $5M/month (that's Million$$, per MONTH).

You might have thought they could have started with a better 'economy-priced' deal, and guarantee their pricing for a year or three...

Hi!,

I have two questions.

One, I did not get the email with this new price structure, can someone from Auctiva email it to me.

Two, I have already converted some of my listings to another company. Can I or how can I convert them back, if I decide to stay.

Thanks so much Jeff. All my Harley Ladies thank you also. You helped me out in many ways. I taught myself HTML. Now at desperate times, I can do it myself. So much easier to do it on Auctiva. Thanks Thanks Thanks Big Grin

I think it is now time for us all to 'Put Up' or 'Shut Up' and let's all get back to work.

We got what we all demanded a week ago!

Let's individually accept the Auctiva offer or leave.

Auctiva screwed up and we all know it, but I guess they are not as perfect as you and I.

Personally, I'm getting back to business and selling on eBay!

Is the new monthly fee per eBay ID?

Is the new flat rate locked in for any period of time (as it is with the competition)?

Yes, the original plan was a debacle with mistakes before and after. I give Jeff credit for:

1. Coming on here and letting people heap abuse on him. Yes, there were good, thoughtful, and well reasoned comments, but there was also a lot of abuse.

2. Learning from mistakes and taking the first steps toward adapting. Sure, it's what business does to survive. It's what we do as sellers, and plenty of sellers discover they are not as customer-driven as they thought they were. Not every business can adapt (hello, eBay). I have more confidence in a business that can adapt.

3. Making a proper apology, taking responsibility with no excuses.

MikeT, I agree with you on the $2.95 plan, that's what I am doing too.

Too frickin' Late! I already paid for an entire year elsewhere as I'm sure a lot of others did too.

If you had only started with a (.95 per month deal, I would have stayed.

Thanks a heap for all the work in moving all my pictures and listings!!!!

Okay, that was a very nice apology. But for me it doesn't erase the bizarre decisions of this company in the last two weeks.

Going from zero to outrageous fees? Announcing it one month from implementation? Attempting to take a cut from my sales in addition to those fees? Insulting customers with a 1MB free photo limit? Announcing, backtracking, giving your customers curt responses?

For the record, I have NEVER received an email about these fees. Not on May 28th or any day since, including this newest offer. I've read the same on ebay forums, so I'm not alone. Yes, I check my spam folder.

I also just want to say that I have enjoyed using Auctiva for 2 years, but it was never "free." Each of my ebay listings contained advertisements for Auctiva with links. I provided Auctiva with free advertising in exchange for its service.

My gut tells me to leave this scene. I don't care for this way of doing business. The apology looks like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I feel the same way. Now I'm wondering if they are charging enough with the people that remain to stay a float. If people did some research to see why they had to start charging fees then everything would make sense as why I feel unsettled to stay because the events and decisions of the past week. I know no one is forcing me to stay here with Auctiva it's just I'm concerned that the worse may not be over. I just got the email this morning that was supposed to come yesterday. I still feel uneasy. Confused

My husband and I have looked around at other sites when the price plan first broke but always hoped that we would see a flat fee plan implemented as well. I just signed up for the 9.95 plan and will take it a month at a time but that being said I am thrilled that I don't have to go to a different site. I have my kids & some of their friends working for me and the fact that I don't have to learn and then train them to list auctions on a new site thrills me to no end.

Thank you Jeff and Auctiva staff I look forward to a long and prosperous (for all) relationship!!

Well, I never expected Jeff and staff to rethink their strategy. No doubt thousands of man (and woman) hours went into building the new pricing strategy. Careers were being made and, more importantly, egos were on the line. I fully expected Auctiva to stick by its decision come hell or high water. So I give you folks credit for eating a huge slice of humble pie and coming up with more realistic program. I am currently on a free 30-day trial with "Kermit" and believe me they are pulling out all the stops to get me to sign up, especially with this latest turn of events. I must admit, they've got a few nifty tricks, but at the end of the day I like the feel of Auctiva's interface better (maybe just more used to it) and will most likely be signing up soon. It's been an interesting couple of weeks, to say the least ... certainly a distraction from the dreary news pages. But now, as many people have said, let's get back to selling!

Thanks Jeff! I too have been checking out other options but I WILL BE STAYING with Auctiva. I think $9.95 is fair and reasonable given what you offer.

I did spend alot of time deleting photos to get down to the free tier. The good thing about that is I cleaned out a bunch of old photos which needed to be done!

Thanks again!Petit Couture Mall

Um....NO. The community's lack of "shutting up" is what got the flat rate fee offered in the first place. There is a time and a place for vocalization and I say, THIS IS IT.

Am I apathetic? NO. Do we have all the info we need to make a decision yet?? NO.
I'd like to know about the multiple accounts business for the flat rate. That may make or break MY decision. No one's answered that yet. It was apparently part of the 180 deal offered. Is it part of the "new deal"??

All the chaos and hard feelings were self-inflicted. Oh, sure, eBay changed their process impacting A's bottom line, but hey, haven't we ALL dealt with that one?

This isn't about good and evil so don't make it that simple. This is about a series of decisions involving very individual businesses and pocketbooks without all the info on the table. Please don't be so quick to dismiss it. I haven't read a single post that struck me as a trouble-maker or troll. It's just a lot of overworked people trying to stay afloat who've been jerked around this month.

Can I forgive Jeff a lousy decision? Sure. Do I feel all warm and fuzzy now? Nope. Would I feel better if ALL the important info came fully-hatched in one piece? Yup.

Still waiting. Hoping the other shoe isn't going to drop.

I'm glad Auctiva listened to their customers. Too late for me though; I've already invested too much time moving listings and images. Given how quickly fees were introduced at Auctiva and the subsequent fee structure changes in such a short time, I've lost my confidence in Auctiva. I found out about the latest change from the competitor and not from Auctiva (never did get an email about the $180 deal, either). I feel more comfortable with the price guarantees I have at the new site. Not sure what I can count on here and don't have the time to react to unexpected changes and still stay in business. My sales have taken a big hit because of all of this. I'll miss some of the nice things about Auctiva like the templates and easy image upload. Hope things work out for those who stay.
