Hi, I think the store on a separate domain feature is excellent, but I have a questions about the store items.

I noticed that they do not directly link to ebay, as the items seem to go to rover.ebay.com rather than directly to cgi.ebay.com..

Are the links are going through eBay's affiliate program?

If so, is this still permitted for me to link to my store on a non-ebay domain from within my auctions?

Thanks,
Jim

Love the site, but I don't want to break the rules so I'm tentative about linking to my domain from within the auctions.

short answer. Nope

I tried to link to my store and ebay has them blocked, another guy listed in "listings" that his auction got closed for linking to store.

It is technically linking outside ebay, far as I know they do not allow it.

Although all the listings are on ebay, auctiva provides a free store on their servers, therefore outside of ebay,

Thanks Blavann.. I was reading the suggestion to link to it to promote it within your auctions on the Auctiva website. I'm guessing that is outdated information.

Linking to Picture Galleries
Sellers may also link to a page where information relating to eBay or Half.com items is grouped in a picture gallery or similar format as long as the page otherwise complies with eBay's links policies. This gallery page may also contain discrete links to other pages that offer items for sale outside-of -Bay, but may not contain descriptions of or links to individual items on other sites.

Hmm... Could people being banned have something to do with the links back to ebay being affiliate links? Are they ebay affiliate links?

Yes, but that would not be the reason.

If they were banned or listings ended it would simply be because eBay has a lot of support staff that don't know their own rules. But when you have 100 pages of rules or however many pages eBay has that's bound to happen. We've discussed this exact case with their support managers before. We have a lot of customers with galleries and they have a lot of support staff, it's bound to happen that this mistake occurs once in a great while.

So are we allowed to then?

Just that half of ebay don't know we can?

It wouldn't even let me put in the link, when it was clicked on it brought me to a ebay does not allow this link web page.
