I have been getting a run time error "Run Time Error #405 Unable to show modal form within this context" When I send emails from ebud. I have to click the OK button and then the whole program closes down losing everything since the last back up....HUGE inconvenience!
Any ideas?

Us too! Just started last night. The only thing that we have changed was upgrading to ZoneAlarm Pro a few days ago. We didn't experience the problem immediately after upgrading though.
We did notice that if we manually change the status to whatever the email is about (i.e. change the status to "Payment Received" BEFORE we send the "Payment Received" email), we don't get the error message and the program doesn't shut down.
DSL - Windows XP - Outlook Express - Zone Alarm Pro - eBud 3.07

At what point in the process do you get this error? What are you trying to do right when it happens?
let me know, and you might want to also file a support request

The error shows up after you send a message from the que. The message is sent, but afterward, the message screen still shows but turns blank and then the error message pops up and when you close it, eBud shuts down. Like we mentioned in the message above, if you change the status on the spreadsheet before you send the message, everything works fine. Strange.
Something else has been happening also that just started about the same time. We have our tool bar at the bottom set on "Auto Hide" and it works normal when we first start eBud. Now when we go to the eBud browser, we can't access the toolbar and the condition continues when we go back to the spreadsheet?
Last night we renamed our eBud directory and reinstalled version 6.0 and upgraded to 7.0. We then copied all of our cfg and data files back but it didn't help. If we have a corrupted file we probably just put it back. Tonight we will try bringing them back one at a time to see if we can narrow it down unless you have an easier idea.
Thanks for your reply!

When you say it happens right when you send them from the queue, do you mean when you hit the "Send" button that is part of the email queue, or do you double click on the email and hit that send button in the place where you can edit the email?

Just tried both ways with and without the "mail compose" feature.
The "mail compose" doesn't seem to make any difference but it IS only happening when we hit the send button in the place where you can edit the email. When we use the "Send" button that is part of the que, it works fine.
Thank you for your time in this.

Couple questions for catmandu and for Jeanette,
Does this happen in 3.07a?
Do both of you have MAPI selected under "Edit->Mail settings?"
do you both have zone alarm installed?
Code has been added to the program to keep it from crashing when this happens but the bug itself hasn't been found. I still haven't been able to reproduce it so i'm not sure if i'm doing exactly the right things to make it crash.
I basically send an email, go to the queue, double click on the email, hit send, and it sends, no matter what "Edit->Mail Settings" i seem to be using.

Still happens.
Mail settings?"
Yes.
Yes - Although it only started happening when we upgraded to ZA Pro V3.6. It never occured with ZA V2.6
Mail Settings" i seem to be using.
That's exactly what we do when we get the error. We normally double click in the que so that we can change "Dear John Smith" to "Dear John". Then hit send. Outlook Express goes through all of its steps, and after the message is sent, we get the error. The eBud message block still appears behind the error message but the original message, email address, subject line etc are gone and are replaced with just the description of the particular block. The only other time we have experienced this (before ZA Pro) was once when our ISP had their mail server down and we weren't aware of it. It's like there is a timing thing going on and if the message isn't actually sent in a certain amount of nanoseconds it self-destructs. We use Norton AV also and used to check our outgoing mail but stopped doing that thinking that it was throwing off something but that didn't help.
We mentioned before that if we manually changed the status on the spreadsheet to whatever we were sending the email for, we would not get the error when we sent the email from the double click email preview.
Rather verbose but trying to give you as much info as possible.
Thanks!

Looks like this thing shuts down whenever I try to send more than 15 or 20 emails at once. Using MAPI...

We still haven't reproduced the original problem posted in this thread but some things have been done about it for the next release which should be out today or tomorrow i'm predicting.
desirable-dudz: File a support case about this and we will help you as soon as possible over there. Fees seem to be working for me, a problem was fixed today preventing those using Brittish Pounds as currency that will be available in the next release. If that is not related to your problem please file a support case about it and we will get on it.
