Log in to your godaddy account, within the menu on the left handside, under "My Products" you will see "Domain Manager" click on that. This will bring a new window that will show you the domains you have with godaddy. Tick the box next to the domain you want to change, look just above that, and find "Forward" Click on the icon, a window will then drop down. Tick "Enable forwarding" enter the URL (web address) given by Auctiva for your Auctiva Commerce Store, make sure you DO NOT include "www" tick 301 (move permanently) or 302 if you want the move to be temporary then click OK. After that everytime someone enters your domain name into their browser, they will be directed to your store.
The changes should be immediate, however allow up to 72 hours (normally happens within 1 hour).
Note: There are some search engines that will display "301 Moved Permanently" as 302 Moved Temporarily.
PS: Copy and Paste this into Notepad or Word, then print it. It will save you time on the day rather than come back here to look for it. (just an idea) My vote has been cast (and no I didn't vote for myself)This message has been edited. Last edited by: 1stProject,

Hi 1stProject,
These instructions are only if you want to FORWARD your store to AC correct? If you want AC to HOST your domain/store then you have to wait for the DNS name correct? Does anyone know when or how we will be given that information?
No, you can buy a domain through any registrar. GoDaddy, Network Solutions, etc. We offer an easy solution as it will literally be a click in the next Auctiva site update rather than having to figure out the settings at each of the different registrars. But you can buy your domain anywhere and it will work just as well if you'd bought it with us as long as you set it up correctly at that site. That's the only difference, we help you set it up automatically when you purchase it.
What if you don't have a godaddy account? What if your web domain is hosted through Auctiva?? What would be the required steps required to be taken then to point an Auctiva store to the desired website?
My website is: www.yoreantiques.com I purchased a domain through Auctiva. Can someone at Auctiva please direct me how to forward my new Auctiva Store to my website address?
I have a GoDaddy domain. Read all the help on both sites, here and there. Spent over an hour trying to figure it out. Called GoDaddy. Done in 5 minutes.
My suggestion...call support and get it done quickly. If you make money, Auctiva makes money.

This question is answered in many threads. You will be able to point your domain name purchased through Auctiva in the upcoming new release, possibly as early as Friday.
To forward my domain to my new auctiva store, I call Domains by Proxy at 480-624-2599. They talked me through it, which was good, because there is an extra step to insure Go Daddy picks up your forward. The tech I talked to said without the fix, that sometimes web crawlers drop you and don't forward you. I have Domains by Proxy connected to go daddy so if that is your case too the techs at that # can help you.

What was the extra step the tech at Domains By Proxy told you to do? I cannot get my domain to forward. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Same here. I have a goDaddy domain which I have configured 4 times and waited 48-72 hours each time and so far nothing works. The first couple of times was with the "total DNS control" option which one of the threads said to use. Then I reset the total DNS defaults and just used the forwarding instructions at the start of this thread. Sometimes it would forward to an Auctiva page that said there was no store by that name, sometimes it would go to an Auctiva based list of ebay items. Now it is just going to the godaddy starter page. I don't know what else to try.

Hello to Everyone, As of this morning 03/03/09 Auctiva Commerce does not have an ETA on when the option to forward your Auctiva registered domain name will be available. This is the answer that I received from Auctiva Commerce engineering to my support request. So it looks like if we want to use the domain names that we registered through Auctiva we will have to move them off of Auctiva to another domain registrar. I had been waiting as my support requests on this issue had been getting responses of "It should be in the next update," but now that several updates have past and the engineers are stating that they do not even have an ETA for this option to be implemented anymore I'm looking at going ahead and transferring my Auctiva registered domain name and just take my lumps now rather than continuing to wait on Auctiva for an option that might be a long ways off.
Update- Here is what you would need to do to.
First open a support case on auctiva.com and you will receive an email like this. "Thanks for contacting us regarding this matter. In accordance with the “Terms of Service” you agreed to when purchasing this domain, the custom domain that you purchased through Auctiva is managed by Auctiva and can only be used to point to your Auctiva store.
However, we can transfer this domain to your control outright for a fee of $19.95, which will allow you to manage your domain however you'd like. If you would like to purchase this domain in this manner, please do the following:
2) Sign up for a free eNom account by going to http://www.enomcentral.com, and clicking the "create your FREE account" link at the upper right have corner of the page.
Once you have completed these tasks, please reply to this case with your eNom username, and we will transfer this domain to your personal eNom account as soon as possible."This message has been edited. Last edited by: sandrdeco,
I specifically bought my domain through them FOR the Auctiva product, their store front. My www.MaidenShade.com is through enom - so it's not like I couldn't have gone through them initially. Oh no, not trusting me. I thought when they said Auctiva store, they meant THIS one too...
I took a month plus off before going whole hog with DeStash, so that when I started broadcasting/touting it would be with the correct domain name/address - www.DeStash.com. I had put in a question/ticket back in early February asking about transfering over (and begging them to tell me what I read wasn't true, I liked these folks and wanted to have a great relationship) and never got a response from them, but read what everyone else said about "it's coming in the next update" so figuring they were busy with the new startup and all, I patiently waited and didn't hound them.
Now I come in all of this time later, ready and eager - to find out they are enjoying the benefits of charging us for something we purchased through them, for a store front that is their very own product, and essentially we get told "ohhhh no, this is for the OTHER Auctiva store, not your Auctiva-Auctiva store". uh huh.
Just great. You know what, I don't have another $20 to spend. No, really - it is a burden to me. Why else would I be so eager, hopeful, thankful and so on for this Auctiva miracle option? Because I am really hurting and needed a solution to try to get back on my feet, that's why. I feel cheated, mislead, and taken advantage of. It's not just the $20 - it's the principle of the thing. I don't know about you, but I trusted them.
And if nothing else they could've answered me back in February and just owned up to what the truth is and TOLD me, "yes, what you hear is true - No, we are never going to transfer your domain so you might as well just go pay for it, AGAIN". See, they win twice, Auctiva got my first $ for the domain name, then get another $19.95 for transfering. Doesn't anyone else feel or find this is deceptive??? What an easy, lucrative way to get twenty-bucks more off of people. How much do you suppose that got them? How many of you did this like me?
I begged my husband so he'd go along with me on this DeStash venture in partnership with Auctiva "look how much more reasonable this is than ProStores..." I said, "I should switch MaidenShade over too". "Besides, it's only $x amount for the domain name..." He will be just thrilled (not) when I tell him. Yes, I'll be honest with him - I believe in being UP FRONT! Apparently I'm alone in that.
If they have nothing to hide, I think they should spell it out, CLEARLY in their offer of a domain name instead of being sneaky. "WARNING: YOU CAN BUY THIS FOR $X AMOUNT NOW, BUT - IF YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR OWN DOMAIN NAME, -www.yourstore.com instead of www.yourstorename.auctiva.com - EVEN FOR ANOTHER AUCTIVA PRODUCT LIKE OUR ECOMMERCE STORES, YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY US $19.95 MORE!"
I certainly would have understood that and acted accordingly.

Sassy DeStasher, While I do agree with your point of view, because I like you interrupted the initial offerings to mean that Auctiva was actively working on converting their system so that we could use our Auctiva registered domain names for either the Auctiva (eBay listings based) Store, or for our Auctiva Commerce Store Fronts. I have come to feel that they have given very little priority to this function as they have had so many other functional issues and bugs pop up during the deployment of this venture that have required full priority attention just to maintain a working developmental system. Which I think that we should keep in mind before bashing them too much. I would like to share what I did, the cost, and provide an option that you may not have thought of for your situation. I did brake down and finally pay the $20 to get control of my registered domain name and my total expenses came up to $55. But, that was the $20 to Auctiva and a total of $35 to godaddy for registering the transferred .com domain name, registering a variant of the domain name since our name has an "and" in it, I registered the domain name with an "n" replacing the "and", because a lot of web users type "n" to replace "and", and I also bought an email package that gave me additional email addresses on top of the single free email address that you get with each domain that you register with godaddy.com. Although eNom also has a great POP email option available for $20 a year, it did not fit the overall configuration that I was looking for, since I wanted all of the addresses forwarded to a single address that I could monitor and reply to any of the messages and have the correct originating email address appear as the sending address on the reply without being constrained to a single computer that had the POP email setup on it. Which did not happen with the email addresses that I had setup for my Auctiva registered domain name that had to be forwarded to another email address, the forwarded email address is the one that was on the replies and I got quite a few replies back asking me what kind of cheap #%% $@(& scam I was trying to pull with threats of reporting my Auctiva Store as a phishing/scam site. So I wanted to make sure that I could steer way clear of this possibly happening with my own eCommerce site. BTW for anyone that is asking what is POP email. It is an email account that is setup using POP3 and SMTP protocols on client software such as outlook, outlook express, and a multitude of other email client software that is available for free via download and I'm getting off topic here so back to the point. Okay back to the main point, while it might be hard to swallow and somewhat expensive depending on your situation, if you want to keep the domain and immediately use it for your store front. You will need to pay Auctiva the extra money and get control of the domain name you want to use. Alternatively you can register a similar .com and/or your preferred domain name and/or similar name as a .net and forward it/them to your Auctiva Commerce Store, let the current domain name that you have registered through Auctiva expire when the annual registration runs out and then register your preferred domain name .com off of Auctiva and have full control of it there after. This way you save the immediate $20 payment to Auctiva, but you would want to consider the recurring annual expense of renewing multiple domains every year if you want to keep the extra .com and/or .net domains later on. So, to sum it up, while I agree that it is aggravating that Auctiva did not come out and just tell us that "Okay we made a mistake with registering your domains with us and it will be quite a while before we are going to get the forwarding functionality that you are expecting and this is what it will take to fix that problem." and that those of us that are working with shoes string budgets find these expenses to be an unnecessary burden. I think that we also need to remember the multitude of other issues, problems, bugs, and functionality shortcomings that the system had, and that have popped up since deployment, that Auctiva has had to work on and that they have fixed and/or improved upon during these last couple of months. Yeah it does seem like it has been forever that we have been waiting for some of these fixes and improvements, but it has in reality only been a couple of months that this new venture has been developing. And I'm sure that unlike FEEBAY, if you ask the developers and engineers here, they will admit that they are only human and that they are not the GODS of Web Commerce that FEEBAY would like everyone to believe they are. Just my two cents.
Hello sandrdeco - let me start by saying "thank you" for your thoughtful and provocative reply.
It was calming, and helped diffuse my anger a bit. Not much, but still. A peacemaker is always a good thing. You reminded me to be better, so thanks.
Having said that, I am not inclined to believe that Auctiva is or was unaware of this very advantageous catch 22 or whatever (no time to think of an appropriate term...)
It isn't okay. I realize one shouldn't burn bridges, but it just caught me right in the hind end and knocked the wind out of me. I'll catch my breath and move on, but still think it's important to be able to state an opinion and illuminate a shadowy bit so others don't get likewise kicked.
Again, thanks for the reply.
PS What were you talking about with the email thing, I was lost?!?
Hi, I tried yesterday to forward my domain, it was the dns settings, I hadn't changed them now I got an autherizating code and on that e-mail it goes to my ac store but what do we do with the code this sound really dumb but I can't find anything on an autherization code here.
