I've been with Auctiva for a little over 2 weeks now but there seems to be problems with their servers. I can usually get 1 or 2 listings on without any problems, but when I try to put others on, the site just "hangs". I can't estimate ebay fees, preview the listing or post or schedule a listing - the site will just hang and ultimately display an "unable to access webpage". Anybody else running into this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I have not had your problem, but in the past, with another web-based program, I had to periodically delete cookies and temporary internet files, close my browser and re-open. That usually took care of the issue.

Also, a techie gave me the info that when doing this you need to go to www.google.com because google does not put a cookie on your browser.

Hope this may help,

BroJames

Sorry, I meant to say, close any extra browser pages (keep only 1 open) then go to www.google.com first and delete cookies and temp internet files from the google site.

Contacted Microsoft about this hanging when listing, this is what they said:
Problem caused by Microsoft Internet Explorer

This problem occurred because Microsoft Internet Explorer was slow or unresponsive. Microsoft Internet Explorer was created by Microsoft Corporation.

This type of problem occurs when a program is slow or has stopped responding and you choose to shut it down. This is also referred to as an application hang. Most of the time, there's nothing you could have done to prevent this type of error, but there are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Troubleshooting

It's hard to determine exactly what causes Internet Explorer to stop responding, but it's usually due to one of the following reasons:

* Spyware, adware, or other malicious software. If you have downloaded free software from the Internet, you might have inadvertently downloaded spyware with it. Spyware is software that can display advertisements (such as pop-up ads), collect information about you, or change settings on your computer, usually without your permission.
* Internet Explorer add-ons: Add-ons are software that add features or tools (an Internet toolbar for example) to Internet Explorer.
* Computer viruses: If your computer has a virus, the virus can cause Internet Explorer to stop responding.

Submitting an error report is the best way to inform Microsoft about the unresponsive application on your computer. We use these error reports to analyze the problems in the software and fix them.

In addition to sending error reports, there are also a few things you should try. These solutions are not meant to fix all application problems, but they may help you prevent or troubleshoot unresponsive applications.

1.

Install the latest security updates for Internet Explorer

These updates address many issues that have caused Internet Explorer to stop responding

Install latest security updates for Internet Explorer.
2.

Update your Windows software

The Microsoft Update website provides free updates for Microsoft operating system software and hardware. Updates fix problems in the software and help protect against known security threats. To check your computer for updates, go to the Microsoft Update website online.
3.

Install, run, and regularly update your anti-spyware, anti-adware, and antivirus software

To see a list of Microsoft and third-party solutions for spyware, adware, and antivirus software, go to the following webpage online.

Security software: Downloads and trials
4.

Turn off all third-party browser extensions (also known as add-ons)
1. Close all Internet Explorer windows.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Internet Options.
4. Click the Advanced tab.
5. Under Browsing, clear the Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart) check box.
6. Restart Internet Explorer.

Note: When you turn off third-party browser extensions and restart Internet Explorer, all third-party browser extensions will be unavailable. You can easily turn on these components again.
5.

If you are using Yahoo! Toolbar, download a fix.

Thanks for everyone's input and support! I've done everything suggested but still having the same problem. I can list one or two (if lucky) auctions but then the site just dies....it's either extremely slow in responding or won't respond at all. All of my computer software is kept up to date and I've done diagnostic checks for internet connectivity. Everything's OK here.

I'm pretty much at the point where I'm ready to go back on ebay for listing my auctions. Sure it costs a bit more and no great templates, but at least I'll get my listings posted and make some sales.

I am kind of curious though how Auctiva can maintain their server network without collecting any fees. I can't use their insurance service because I'm from Canada and their site only supports U.S. shipping. Might this be the reason I'm having problems getting my listings posted?

Hi treasuresandrarefinds,

I don't think your being in Canada has anything to do with it. Hopefully, when everyone is settled down from eBay Live, support can address this issue.

I looked in on Blackthorne Pro today (this would be my choice if I go to a paid service) and their support was closed while everyone went to Live. How about that?

Hi BroJames

I appreciate your help! I don't think it has anything to do with ebay live as I've had this problem every day since I joined over 2 weeks ago. Funny thing is if I post on ebay directly I have absolutely no problems with listing. There's definitely a problem with Auctiva's servers here. I will check out Blackthorne Pro though. Thanks!
