Okay, before I started posted on these boards (& setting up an Auctiva store) I thought I was fairly computer literate. But please, how do you post a picture on here??? I see Sindy and Gail do it all the time; screenshots and such. I just tries to post a screenshot of a page for someone... didn't work! So someone please take me to school! Thanx!
For taking pictures of what is happening on your computer... Hold down your shift key, and hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard. Then go to something as simple as paint (it is in your programs generally under accessories.) Open Paint and paste. Then save as jpg or what ever is accepted by the site you host your pictures on. If you only want to show part of your screen (i.e. just the top window) click on alt print screen instead of shift and print screen (Thanks Gail for this tip!)
This part works for any pictures once they are uploaded. When you are ready to post the picture into the message you will need the URL to the picture. Type your message and when it is time to insert the picture in your message hit mountain picture on your toolbar (second from the right) paste in your picture's URL and click ok. Then it will show up in your post. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Michelle G,

DUH! Holy cow! Ka-ching! Yeah, that sounds familiar. Thanx Michelle, you're a sweetheart! I (like many others on here now-a-days) feel stupid! I knew that... it just wouldn't click. Thank you!
Tip: Did you know you don't need to open up Google/Yahoo to search? Just type the items you want to search. Try it now! type the above words directly into the address bar of your browser (where you would normally type "http:..."). The next page should bring up search results on those words, as if you had used Google or another search engine.
For pictures on the Internet (that already have been loaded up on a website), just right click on the picture, a grey box will pop up. go to the bottom, press Properties. Another pop up box shows up, third line down should say "Address". Copy the entire address (starting with the "http... and ending with the ".jpg" (or .gif, etc)). Go back to the forum, open a message window, MARK THE SPOT IN THE MESSAGE WHERE YOU WANT THE PICTURE with your left button / mouse (otherwise, the picture goes winging where ever it wants ). Locate the "mountain" looking icon (2nd from the right), paste the address, press ok. Finish your message, press Post Now.
For pictures created in paint and photoshop via instructions above, I upload them to my other .com via FTP - but you could use Photobucket, too - anywhere you have hosting privileges.

I banged my head on this a few times myself. The first time I did it without any problems. The second time I couldn't remember how to do it for the life of me. I was working on a tutorial and actually had to edit my post and add an under construction notice while I worked it out Which of course I did incorrectly about 5 times. That always happens when you need to have the information posted immediately.

Okay Gail, now I feel really dumb! You know, I'm gonna have to ask you again how to do all that! I feel so much more comfortable with hardware! Thanx Sweety! You & Michelle both need to go tell your hubbies I said you need a hug & kiss for being so helpful!

LOL
no, believe it or not, that came straight out of my head (knock, knock )
Let's start all over - maybe I didn't 'splain very well
To post a picture in these forums ... or you find one on the Internet ... for instance, let's use one of these smiley's:
1.)right click on the picture (use the smiley just above, in this case) 2.)a grey box will pop up 3.)go to the bottom of the pop up 4.)press Properties 5.)another pop up box shows up 6.)third line down should say "Address" 7.)copy the entire address (starting with the "http... and ending with the ".jpg" (or .gif, etc)). Address looks like this:
8.)Press OK, to get rid of grey pop up box 9.)Open a forum message window 10.)At this point, before you go any further, you may want to mark the spot in the message where you want the picture to be placed - just use the left button on your mouse, press the spot where you want the picture to end up at 11.)At the top right side of the message box, locate the "mountain" looking icon (2nd from the right) 12.)a grey pop up window will appear 13.)paste the address (copied from step #7) 14.)press ok 15.)at this point, it's irritating, but you will end up at the top of the message: just scroll back down to finish your message/check on the picture to make sure it went where you want it. 16.)Finish your message 17.)Press "Post Now"
For my own pictures (not yet posted up to the Internet that I create in paint and/or photoshop), I upload them to my other .com via FTP (another instructional, another time) - but you could use Photobucket, too - anywhere you have hosting privileges.
Zat any better?

Gail i tried your photo posting system but i cannot get past #5 or #6, where an address line should be. For instance, i right click on a photo of mine, i click properties, and i do not get a box that says address...
Do you see that address? If so, left click on it and highlight that complete line/address so it's blue.
Ok, then right click and click on Copy. Got it? Then Left Click OK to close that box. Then I came & pasted it here like this.
Then follow the rest of Gail's instructions. (Or if I have to tell you the rest..that will be $10.00 sir)! ROTFLOL!
You can use this MickeyMouse I just posted to practice. Or the one on the left (my avatar). Either one. This message has been edited. Last edited by: LifeisLike,
i was able to do all that, but when i try it with a photo in 'My Pictures' or a photo from Photobucket, it does not work and i look for a baseball bat to destroy the computer

Romano, Also, if you are trying to post the pictures from Photobucket..You should have the link right there. You don't need all this other stuff...like Properties.
If they are in 'My Pictures' you do have to host them somewhere to get the link..like Auctiva or Photobucket.
