All -

I've set up and pinned this section for Store Designer Beta Release feedback, discussion and questions. Hopefully it will help to have this dedicated area for discussion of issues, solutions, etc.

If you find bugs please email them to feedback@auctivacommerce.com - you can also use this email address to request to be included in the Store Designer Beta and we'll set you up with a demo store.

Thx,
Chris

Re: my other comments in the main thread before this thread came about.

Yesterday I was able to pick a theme and change it. Then last night last night I could only see a larger size of a theme and couldn't change it.

Yesterday I was able to upload an image but today I couldn't.

Yesterday I could drag and drop things onto the template, today I couldn't

All of the above in FF.

Went over to IE8 and didn't have the same problems. So I think there are some significant problems between IE8 and FF, and perhaps cookies I don't know.

After making changes in IE8, I went back to FF after logging out and logging back in and all was there!!!!

I haven't had a ton of time to play around with it yet, but so far I like what I see. I'll make sure to give any feedback on this thread as I get more familiar with it and try new things.

Thanks!

I did put in a support ticket on the image uploader concerning the fact that it doesn't return a https URL but a http URL. They said they would look into it as it was supposed to be an HTTPs URL.

(THIS IS VERY GOOD NEWS!!!!) not that it isn't an https, but that it is intended to be.

Hi,

I have run into a couple things.

On the main page under Featured Products the items are showing the description to the right of the image. This makes the featured are go off the page to the right. I used the Black Stripes theme to modify.

I cannot change to font or size of the words "Featured Products" I can change the text but not how it displays.

I keep getting a message that says it can't load both categories and items. If I then wait about 5 to 10 seconds and retry, they will load. This happens to a smaller extent with my live site where the file sizes are very large

I am not able to copy and paste the page for you to see here. So here is the URL http://beta24.auctivacommerce.com/

Very nice presentation BobSmile LOL! This is why we Beta test. Checkout what happens on your category page: http://beta24.auctivacommerce....12221.aspx?sid=20867 Unless I am seeing things I am seeing the category title twice.

EDIT: WE CAN CHANGE THE TITLE TO ANYTHING WE WANT IN THE EDIT PORTION OF FEATURED PRODUCTS.

I guess the good news is that with CSS access we can easily make the words featured products go away.

Thanks Big Grin and thanks for reminding me about the categories. When I go to Manage Categories, there are duplicates of each one. I may have done something to create them but don't think so. Even if I did, I don't think the program should allow exact duplicates.

As much time as I spend on my computer, you might be surprised to learn that I don't have a clue how to do Anything with CSS. I need to look it up on the net unless you already know a URL.

The layout is now correct. It may be another timer issue after I closed everything and restarted the site.

Hmmm, the layout problem appeared to fix itself and is now back. Chris, do you still want us to send feedback email or is posting here enough as everyone can see it?

Bob,

Somewhere in the posts or the emails it does say that they want all the feedback to go to the feedback email address in the beta store email.

I don't think it is a function of your entering the category twice, I think it is function of how someone coded the categories/subcategories to show up on the category pages. Look in the categories widget on the left side for options about how the crumbs are shown.

The crumbs are the little words across the top vs. the main category in orange. From your home page if you just click on the main category for blankets you see them presented differently than the link above. Perhaps it would help to duplicate some inventory and put it under a different sub category under the same category to see what it looks like when more than one subcategory is used.

Bob,

How many columns are showing in your settings for featured products. 3 would be appropriate if you were going to get rid of the right hand column on your front page all together. So if you have not set the number of featured products and all of them are showing, check your edit of the featured products and set to 2 columns and the appropriate number you want shown. Then if it isn't showing that way, respond to that feedback email address.

Also in the edit section for Featured Products change the title - that will change the text above your featured products. Results here: http://beta66.auctivacommerce.com/ Don't everyone laugh - I am playing not making a site. You can laugh laterSmile

Hi both of you, looks as though you guys are the only ones with time to play with the beta, Bob you've pretty much built another store in a day.... Hats of to you, you'll be making sales by the middle of the week. Just one small thing I have noticed with regards to alignment, on your item pages the email a friend section in the right side bar is tucked slightly behind the main pane. One of those little things I think some people would not necessarally (????? double S, or C, or both ??????) spot, but I know it would niggle me.

I am going to load up some dummy inventory tomorrow. But first some categories and subcategories. I don't think you can see enough until you have inventory in place.

Decided to have a little play and have come across my first hurdle, my logo on the Smoothie theme throws the entire page out to the right, the link below shows a screen capture of the page
http://acimg.auctivacommerce.c...1/webimg/2797481.jpg

Argh - what a start!!!

I shall send an email right away...

I started on the smoothie - but I hadn't uploaded my logo yet. I put the search box on the left side panel and the background for the search was left justified and the word "search" was center justified. I reported that as well.

The smoothie has always given me trouble with logo size. You can usually shrink it a little at a time to see where the threshold is.

I still can't get the recently viewed items widget to work. Anyone else using it and does it work? (I already notified "feedback")

If you give me your store link I can look from a customer's perspective. I am going to load inventory today. Until I load some things, I can't test mine yet.

Is there a way to make the width of the category colume just a little bit wider so when I type in the wording I need it stays on one line.
When I type category names it puts the last words to the next line completly off center.
Makes it look bad.
Here's what I want:
Dometic Brand-new Cooling Units
Norcold Brand-new Cooling Units
Here's the way it shows:
Dometic Brand-new Cooling
Units
Norcold Brand-new Cooling
Units

I know what you will say "change the wording to be shorter".
You would be surprised at how many customers now call to ask if I have brand-new cooling units in stock because my category did not say.
I'm removing the TOP SELLERS colume so I should be able to make the cat colume wider to fit my needs.
That would a good add to the customizable area list.

RV,

With out testing on all pages, I think if you go through to the store designers Create your Theme, at the top are the four tabs

Select Style - Edit Layout - Custom Images - Custom CSS

Click the Custom CSS tab and enter

div#sideBar1{width:300px; ...}

The 300 can be changed to suit the width required. This works and adjusts the width of the Left Sidebar however I am no expert in CSS so if this is incorrect I apologise.

Michelle & Robert, I have also figured that currently the Logo can not excede 100px in height for the Smoothie themes, anything over 100 pixels throws the whole page out.

That is something support needs to know about to fix on the logo size issue. Although someone could work around it, that isn't something that should have to be done unless someone wants to customize the blank theme.
