Another issue with currencies was just discovered.
You may remember my imaginary Gambian customer who purchased a set of Opera CDs on April 26 and paid in $. If you haven't read about his (and my) adventure, here is the thread:
The order confirmation he received after the order showed the item price as $33.08 which was my price of €25 converted at the rate of 1.3232 applying on that day.
He wanted to view his order online today and discovered that he bought the set for $33.51 which is the €25 converted at today's rate of 1.3403 and the same inconsistency applies to shipping expenses and discount (although the latter does not show in the Order Confirmation email).
This is getting worse and worse and I intend to make a consolidated list of all bugs in the next few days followed by:
1) a very long support ticket
2) a thread to this forum for others to add bugs not discovered by me yet
3) a detailed warning about all bugs which I will post to my site for customers to know who to blame. This will certainly not be good for AucCom's reputation but I don't want them to believe that bugs are caused by my inability to setup a properly functioning website.
If Auctiva Jeff and others are reading this post (and I know that they do read posts in this forum), please reply. You have all disappeared from the forums recently. As for the Subject Matter Specialists, the bugs are not an issue for asking them questions and get the reply that they have not been scheduled for a fix yet.
For one more time, please differentiate between bugs and features. Features are something you schedule for an upgrade, bugs make the site inoperable and require frequent updates as they are reported and solved.
I have seen some people closing their stores these days. Others will wait for a couple more weeks and will follow. The general feeling expressed by those leaving is that there are too many bugs and other issues unsolved. For God's sake, stop issuing new themes and posting them under "Auctiva Commerce Software Updates". Themes are not our problem, we have all found one and would like to see some more but this is not a top priority now. Don't exhaust your resources in something nobody complained about. When was the last time you saw a post asking for new themes?
George, I think we all are in the same boat with this type of issue. We do need some other things, like CSV feeds, etc. but the priority would be for daily consistent operational features that would enhance the basics, so we don't constantly have to check and double check and triple check on general operations, cart, checkout, payments, emails, etc. Hopefully, AC can stabilize the basic system someday soon. Especially prior to billing. It seems as if we still are Beta Testing and not quite ready to feel comfortable with the operation of the system.
I agree its time now for a working e-commerce facility rather than adding themes.I am really getting doubtful that this will be ready by end of May.If it is not fully functional i am not prepared to pay,so i will look elsewhere.A great shame as i know a lot of hard work has gone into this, not just auctiva but auctivas customers the store owners. I will see what happens. http://giftsandcollectables.eu

George
I wasn't going to raise my personnel opinion about this and I gave up things about a week, but You and others are absolutely right George. I for one fed up with this nonsense of Theme upgrades while all waiting and and praying for bug fixes and the full functionality of AC stores. I didn't even bother to start building my own store yet. funny part is I've recommended AC to my work place got OK for it and they have built their inventory and asking me to "go Live" !? I DUNNO what to do?
I have to say I got a giggle out of these posts George and SeNNy but it's just because misery loves company!
I have one foot out the door onto a new host and sad to say won't be looking back. I don't have the luxury of waiting for fixes as this store is my full time living.
I am not trying to discourage people or push them out of Auctiva Commerce. On the contrary, I have in the past tried to persuade those who were ready to abandon ship by encouraging them to give it some more time, saying that issues will eventually be fixed, that we should have faith in Auctiva and other blah, blah.
I haven't changed my mind yet, I still have faith but I'm more and more disappointed as days and weeks pass, issues raised three months ago are not fixed, nobody from Auctiva seems to care and people have started to close their shops.
If Americans have started to go, what should we international owners do? We have all the problems of Americans, plus a lot more.
If Auctiva was honest from the beginning and said "this platform is built by US developers for US merchants who sell in the US only", we wouldn't have spent hundreds of hours trying to make this thing work. A rough estimate of my time is over 1000 hours of work (90 days at an average of 12 hours daily, including weekends).
I don't mind the unpaid work but I do mind the emotional investment in this project. I don't want to go emotionally bankrupt and will fight it. I just don't know how long it will take before I break.
George et al, I totally agree with everything you're saying here! For me it looks like this: When I stopped listing on Greedbay last September (for all the reasons why so many people closed their shops there etc etc), I was hoping and wishing that some BIG outfit like Google would come along and start a new auction site. Only someone big, I thought, would be able to pull off such a venture. Nothing happened. I tried out another auction site which didn't do much for me either. Then I heard about Auctiva Commerce Stores and was very excited about this new venture. Registered straight away, turned up to 2 of the online seminars and started my AucCom store in early February this year. Auctiva, I thought, are big and experienced enough to set up such an enterprise. And if they eventually add auctions to their site, we'd have a really good chance of becoming a major competitor to Greedbay. Well, that was then. What's left of all these hopes and dreams is FRUSTRATION. I stopped listing and looking for merchandise as I'm not selling. And with all these bugs on AucCom, what chances have I got with my little shop? I'm not one of the big sellers but always made a bit of regular money on Greedbay. And now? - Zilch!
