Not sure what future options on new developments will be. But I hope there will not be any consideration of steps along the lines of a feedback system like ebay. It is open to abuse and 1 bad remark can be crippling - once it's up there it's too late you are shot down. Competitors can and do sabotage your sites on ebay.
Well certainly in a marketplace a forum for buyer feedback is appropriate. I don't think 1 bad remark on eBay is crippling. It depends on the context. I've sold a couple hundred items and deserved all the feedback I got. Of course most of those were a while ago.
Still though you are better off focusing on your customers and sales than competitors sabotaging you. I just can't see how this is any kind of major concern.
These are your stores though. We may keep track of feedback long term to alert us to sellers abusing the site or defrauding users but there aren't any plans to display those on your store.
Of course if we need to adapt to an evolving market I would not rule it out out either. Confident buyers that feel safe in their purchase decisions buy and spend more. One example I can think of off the top of my head is someone who opens a store selling fake designer handbags, or even not shipping them at all. Right now this is the wild wild west and we're going to let people run their stores that way but if things get out of hand we'll have to step in.
My independant web site offers product reviews. The customer can leave a review of any of our products. Then we can edit or accept the review before posting it.
I also have a separate page on my website that show the reviews consolidated. But I have to type all of those in.
Will this website offer something similar with the product reviews? I don't care for the ebay feedback system, even though we have never had a negative. I have had one customer threaten to leave us negative feedback if we didn't bend over backwards for her. Fortunately it was resolved. But it's always in the back of your mind.
I notice the shop allows customers to add reviews to the product with a 5 star rating system.
I presume this, like in other commerce shops would give a sort of feedback system. Although it is open to abuse I suppose from friend or families putting up false comments.
regarding eBay, with the new rating system the feedback is open to abuse. 1-3 negative feedbacks is crippling as it can mess up the ratings and have your selling status revoked. I.e shop closed, account suspended. Further to this, there has been a large number of people sabotaged. I.e people buy 5 or 6 items then leave negative feedback for no reason.
My opinion is, I don't want another eBay. I want an affordable webshop that takes minimal time to set up but still has the important features for selling. If Auctiva chose to go close to what eBay offers, then there is a risk they will inherit all the flaws as well.
