Auctiva Admin Console broken again. Takes 2 or 3 tries to log-in then when going to Orders Console you get IE error page does not exist. Very very slow to load pages.
AC are you working on this?

Yes, me too. I can't even get the log-in page to open to get into my admin page.

I'd file a help request but I'm not sure how to do without logging in to my admin account!

I filed a support ticket. Seems like anytime there is a update of substaintial value (shipping rates) there is a "melt down". Guessing AC has decided they can save time and money letting us do the Beta testing.

OH BOY !!
I think we are in trouble here. This is how AC Support answered my ticket on slowness in the Admin Console:

Thanks for contacting us regarding this matter. I apologize for the inconvenience caused. You would just have to change the visibility of the items to "Public", as while they are imported their visibility is set as "Private" by default. This feature you can find under the display options of the item.

Please do let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Sincerely,
Auctiva Commerce Support

The slowness of the dashboard is connected to the slowness with our stores...

According to support there is "temporary congestion on the network" and the engineers have been alerted to the issue...

That sounds about right..Wait!!!! Are they saying you are the cause of every one elses problem of very slow web site viewing.
You should be ashamed at causing this. LOL LOL

I wander if I could come up with a list random causes for problems, I could get paid big BUCKS as a support tech while every ones web sites are down. I like it..I make money when other people are down and I make money when my site is back working..This will keep me from loosing money. It'll be the best of both worlds. Support Tech problem picker and eCommerce Store owner (part time)
Please don't take me serious..This is about the dummest reply back I have heard in a long time.

Will chime in here, but ebay side has been having similar problems for a very long time now, which may/may not be related and probably is not.

HOWEVER, auctiva has said that week-end support and nights are outsourced. I have found writing on week-ends to support is basically a total 100% waste of my time. Not that you really had a choice, but just saying, answer is probably as you thought just an answer of some kind.

Good luck

Hello All -

We've been looking into this issue - at the moment it appears to be a database issue that is causing the problem. When I have more definite information I'll repost.

Thx,
Chris

Last few items that I've bought from Auctiva Commerce Sellers:

Some very interesting stamp sheets from http://stamps4yourpleasure.auctivacommerce.com
A sweet dinosaur crust cutter for the little ones from http://onestopshopping4all.auc...rce.com/default.aspx

It should be OK now Chris, TW has stumbled across the issue purely by accident. Come on TW put your items onto Public viewing and we can all get back to work.

RV, I like what you are saying, I also think that most of us would come up with something a little more exciting.

Something like:

quote:
Hello TV,

Thanks for contacting us regarding this matter and may I apologize for the inconvenience caused. Our developers have located the issue and it seems to be linked to the position of the moon and the content of moisture within the Earths upper atmosphere. These two factors have combined to create a severe magnetic flux density around the geographical location of the Auctiva Commerce servers. Causing an increased 'slowing down' of our systems.

You will be pleased to know that our second level support have spoken to local meteorologists and are certain that these issues will naturally come to a resolve within the next four days once the moon has moved from its current position.

On a less positive note, with the current climatic changes that are taking place, it is likely that this issue will become apparent every 28 days coinciding with the lunar orbit.

I shall pass you concerns onto second level support none-the-less and contact you should there be any update in circumstances.

Many thanks Auctiva Gordon

Can't really argue with that one!!!!!

LOL That is good Wayne.
All I am very sorry that my 10 or 20 listing in Private has caused thi melt down. In the future I will be more carefull making any changes related to my part of the database.

I just find it humorous that anytime there is a substaintial change ie: Google, shipping etc that it is usually related to a network, hardware or database issue. Not that I am keeping track of issues .....

I have no idea if there is an Auctiva Gordon, it was a random name plucked from the damp air.

I apologise Gordon if you are real.

Anyhow, not sure if things are on their way to being fixed (maybe Gordon has been sitting in his garden with a hairdryer pointing at the sky in an attempt to reduce the atmospheric moisture content) but everything seems to be loading much quicker now, 4-5 seconds for Dashboard and merchant.auctivacommerce pages and a record breaking 5 seconds for the store homepage.

Thanks Gordon and the rest of the guys,

Wayne

PPS The silver lining is, that magnetic flux is said to also bring out the Northern Lights...so those of you living above the equator at least have that to look forward to...while you're waiting to login. Wink

PPPS I'm not kidding, there really is a solar flare that caused all this. Although it does read like a tongue-in-cheek tech support excuse doesn't it? Unless he really was kidding. Now I'm confused. Razz

PPPPS: As it turns out no matter where you live on earth (but closer to either pole is best) you may see the "Northern OR Southern Lights" tonight....who knew? We earthlings can be so hemispherically-egocentric. Wink

Yes, here is the post, Item # 3 if you do not care to read entire post.

http://community.auctiva.com/e...417033516#4417033516

I am not sure how we are to distinguish who said what without using name, example. I write on forum and Auctiva Gordon writes note, then Auctiva Peggy adds to it (if there is a Peggy or Gordon sorry let me know) Then if Auctiva Jane Doe responds chimes in and I have a question about what one of them specifically wrote. If you have specific question for one of those related to what they wrote I had assumed using name would help distinguish who said what, but obviously does not help?

I am not sure for commercer's that is big problem since your answers are done normally by one person. But for ebayers we sometimes have several people chiming in on same thread.

Anyway you are still funny what's your name again??? Smile

The solar flare is due to hit the earth today (the 24th, http://mashable.com/2012/01/24...Mashable+(Mashable)). It couldn't have had anything to do with the database troubles from a few days ago

I am not saying it's credible myself, but I don't discount it either. But I disagree on one thing - as I heard on Sunday night it was already affecting the Earth - because my husband had to fly out of town that day and the news said certain flights (high altitude ones) had to be cancelled due to the excessive radiation hazards being put out by the flare! So it was over the weekend in those reports anyways. I wouldn't doubt it.

PS I did a Google search and for those who are really interested, this stuff did affect the earth starting Sunday:

http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/rt_plots/pro_3d.html

This chart will offer and I quote "GOES 5-minute averaged integral proton flux (protons/cm2-s-sr) as measured by the SWPC primary GOES satellite for energy thresholds of >=10, >=50, and >=100 MeV. SWPC's proton event threshold is 10 protons/cm2-s-sr at >=10 MeV. Large particle fluxes have been associated with satellite single event upsets (SEUs)."

This page updates dynamically every 5 minutes.

How's THAT for a mouthful!? And we thought tech support used a lot of gobbledygook words. LOL! Big Grin
