| Thanks for pointing this out. We are getting a lot of good feedback about where we need to shore up our documentation.
I think you've got it. Assume that for items shipped to western states you charge $4.80 for items that weight less than 2 pounds and $5.80 for items that weigh from 2 pounds to 4 pounds.
First you create your zones. Give your zone a name such as "western states" that would include CA, NV, UT, WA, etc.
Next create a new shipping method, give it a name and select to vary by weight. In the min field you would enter 0 and in the max field you would enter 2. In the rate field you would enter $4.80. Then click to add a row. In the second row you would enter 2.01 in the min field and 4 in the max. You would enter $5.80 in the rate field.
Then select the western us zone and your done. |

| Auctiva- Is'nt there a way to set up the shipping so that you just plug in the weight & size of box similar to what you do on Ebay and it automatically knows the USPS fees? It is impossible to plug in zones, weights and box sizes for all their zones. That is a showstopper for me. I'd love to use the new ecommerce stores but it looks like the shipping will be worse than some of the other venues around. I ship a large box USPS from NY to CA. You need to know the box is more than 12X12X12 and know the weight and shipping zone and plug in a diff rate for each zone? That's a lot of work. |

| I posted on another thread that this type of set-up is a deal-breaker for me as well. I really need a bona-fide shipping calculator for the larger items I will sell from time to time. If I was more experienced at setting up things such as zone shipping, I'd have my own web-site, Jeff.
Thanks! |

| When we go live you will be able to use the integrated shipping services for UPS, USPS, Fedex, and Canada Post. So you will enter your product weight and dimensions and when the buyer enters their zip code the shipping is calculated automatically. You will be able to add a flat or % fee for handling or padding on top of the calculated amount. We just didn't want to make these available during the beta because people could potentially incur fees for themselves by accident. This is the same reason we didn't allow people to integrate their paypal or merchant accounts. |
