I read in the faq that you must "define your settings on your ebay preferences page" to work with Auctiva or your checkout or whatever other settings "will run on the defaults ebay provides each user". Does this mean for instance to check the box for "use auctiva secure checkout" and then over on ebay uncheck the box for "use ebay checkout" or both should be checked? And would the same go for shipping insurance and other settings? I'm trying to have Auctiva handle checkout, shipping insurance, etc.

Thanks!

Hi Wes,

For Auctiva Checkout, leave both the eBay and Auctiva checked ON. eBay's Pay Now button is then inserted in listings (why that needs to be ON) and eBay hands the Checkout off to Auctiva (the Auctiva ON). It's the fully integrated 3rd Party method for checkout. The default settings when you signed-up to Auctiva have that configuration and the Auctiva Insurance automatically ON.

Oh...and not having the eBay Checkout ON, implies you have your own Pay Now type button for the Checkout process (possibly what eBay is targeting for elimination in recently announced NO MORE 3RD Party Checkout policy change). That type of checkout typically takes you to someones non-eBay webstore checkout service (which is why eBay is probably targeting that method only, I HOPE).

The shipping Insurance is a decision to Opt-Out or Opt-In for the Auctiva plan. I personally like the plan. If you use Auctiva Checkout, you already should have all settings default correctly. You may need to examine your Combined Shipping, Insurance, and Promotion rules at eBay and SYNC them to Auctiva in the Auctiva eBay settings page (locate at My ACCOUNT tab). eBay still does invoice, so need to make sure the eBay settings are correct for getting combined to work (at both ends). If you have a Store, you also SYNC your Store Categories for the lister and the Auctiva Store on that same page.

If you are doing PayPal shipping labels, be alert that PayPal may not correctly reflect shipping method selected during the Auctiva checkout. That issue came up recently, and I'm not sure if it's been corrected or current status. I know the Auctiva folks are trying to keep pace with changes at eBay.

Wes....you're doing it right. Look twice and then leap! Wink
