I frequently use two categories when listing my books. This is necessary, I won't explain. (Not doing it is not an acceptable work around!) But the way my Auctiva Poster is working I am only given attributes for my first category. This has not mattered to me before, but eBay has gone over to relying mainly on attributes for identifying books and now, in many cases, a second category is just meaningless without the accompanying attributes. When will this situation be corrected?

Well....would ebay give us the option of listing in two categories and then force us to use attributes, but only allow us to use attributes in one category? Would they? Of course we know the answer is yes! They might just do such a thing. But I have checked and, no, you get a set of attributes to fill out with each category.
Is this just me? All this time (years now) I assumed that pretty well everyone listed occasionally in two categories. But no? A non-issue? Fix it someday? I've decided to hold off posting for a week at least anyway because of the attribute-confusion situation (in Books) for buyers at the moment, so I can wait, but it would be nice to know if Auctiva is working on this problem. (For all I know the functionality is there and I am missing something!)

Just in case anyone is following this, I filed a support case on this matter. Brandon of auctiva informs me that:
"I just spoke to one our engineers regarding this case. It appears that this project is not currently being worked on, and they did not give a time ETA on the completation of this project (dual attributes). "

I don't know if Auctiva realizes this but in books they eliminate allmost all of the catagories. If we cannot use attributes in the second catagory. That pretty much eliminates the usfullness of a second catagory and will reduce sales. From what I read on the boards this is going to be the case in many of the catagories. To me this is a must fix for Auctiva. Can we get a better answer on this Ken Thanks John

I got the same answer as carsonbooks to my help request. If anyone else thinks this is a priority that needs addressed. I recommend that you post here and or file a support request about it. If the programers realize that this important to many people it will get moved up on the priority list.

Great! Its good to see there is some concern about this. I suspect that part of the reason that there hasn't been more is that the whole matter of the category-attributes changes in books has left everyone in a state of confusion. Many sellers have just suspended posting new auctions and they are doing this because the book buyers have dropped way off.
So the larger subject, what actually looks like a collapse of the whole Bookselling section (judging by the reports on ebay discussion boards,)is what is preoccupying people.
All the more reason for auctiva to be on top of trying to salvage the situation.

Just an update: I recently received a notice from Auctiva asking me to close or update my support case on this matter. Since I couldn't considered the matter solved,(essentially they said we know there is a problem but we are not working on it) I wrote the following:
Well, technically the problem isn't solved. I would feel somewhat better if I had some sense of *why* this is a low priority matter for you people. Perhaps, for example, most of your sellers are engaged in other areas of ebay and very few work with Books and Music which are the big areas that have recently been affected.
Or maybe its because you have not heard a lot of complaint on this subject--because Book and Music sellers are preoccupied with the larger issue and not doing much posting at all...but only Auctiva and Ebay are going to lose if a lot of people drop out on this issue. It seems to me you would have something to gain by being on top of ways to facilitate people getting active again.
Or perhaps you know something I don't---has ebay let it be known that it is returning to the old category structure? In that case you might see it as wasted energy to correct a glitch in the attribute department.
