I list a lot of old books and find that the date item on the attributes is not set up well for doing this. You must list a day, month and year, but most old books only give the year of publication. I have asked support about this, but they act as if I am the only one complaining. Does anyone else who lists old books on eBay have this problem?
You're not the only one. I mentioned it too, both here, and in a support ticket several month ago.
As you see it hasn't changed. All eBay wants is a year. I don't understand why Auctiva just doesn't change the control from what it currently is to a plain text box.
Maybe it's because I've never written a line of C++
I am afraid that using the update category does not work as I use it at least once a week to make sure I have everything updated. I wish it did fix the problem.
Yes, that little pain of the day and month along with the year is requiring a revision of each and every listing to remove the useless and silly-looking info. I really don't understand why that was even put into the program to begin with. It is totally useless to booksellers, wastes my time revising, and prevents me from scheduling unless I want to take the chance I can get in to revise before someone bids on the listing. After a bid, no chance of changing it. And it does look so stupid to leave a month and day info there. It does bug me and I wish it were non-existent. Any way of knocking that useless section out Auctiva???
I first posted this on August 4th and nothing has been done about the date problem when listing books. Stephanie from Auctiva said I could just put in 01/01/and then the year, but why should I have to do this when eBay just requires the year. I don't understand why this cannot be fixed as it has been going on since the Attributes were added to the books category. I list a lot of old books after Christmas and will have to go in and change each one after it is listed. Anyone else have an answer!
I sent this to the programmers. Mr Poster will do it just as you require with a text box to enter the date. Not sure why it's this way in AP but there must be a reason. I hope they can adjust to fit your needs!
This thread is now five months old, and this still hasn't been fixed.
Auctiva Support - if the programmers can't fix it, or just enter a blank box, why don't they just remove it completely? It looks ridiculous to be offering a book printed in, say, 1850, with an Attribute reading 2004.
