If I were just starting out, I'd probably use the free Auctiva. But I've been using Poster since (I think) 2000, maybe earlier, and it is the only way I've ever WANTED to sell - I love it.

I don't see it very often on eBay - my neighbor has been using it as long as I have, but I do see lots of new Auctiva listings.

So - I'm just curious. Who IS using Poster?

I personally hope it stays around forever; worries me that it won't.

Jan Smile

We list upwards of 50x more on our new free service as our old one.

As long as the current group of loyal Auctiva Poster users stick I'll keep supporting it and updating it. It makes enough now to do that. Sales have been holding steady so it's looking to stick around. Unfortunately once eBay put out Turbo Lister our desktop software took a nose dive. People are willing to pay eBay the 10 cents for templates, 10 cents for scheduling, and 25-50 cents per listing for images. And eBay is able to market to sellers 1000x better than we can so they suck up the user base of sellers that want to use desktop software.

I believe desktop software is the way to go, but honestly it's 25x harder to get customers to use it than it is our web based lister.

If our web lister grows big enough we may someday port Auctiva Poster and Mr. Poster to work with the new free site and give our web users a chance to use the downloadable software too. So far though people using the web lister haven't been asking for that though. DSL is cheap, fast, and most people can get it now so using the web browser works almost as well and it's easier than figuring out software.

I'm asking!

I have no idea what your talking about, but if you have anything that is not web based for doing my listings I would love to use it. Can you tell me about it?

Jeff, I will ALWAYS use Poster. If you look in your records you'll see my original name - I used to LIVE on these boards.

I have NEVER thought any other way of listing was as great, even back in the day when there were a lot of problems. I tried eBay's lister ONE TIME and backed out the door. I've tried the web based lister, too. I would probably like it if I weren't used to Poster and all that I can do with it.

I think the new one is nice - has great looking templates, but Poster is for me. Smile

Adolia -

Auctiva Poster is great, but you have to take the time to use it. You can use backgrounds and really do neat things to your auctions. It DOES cost $9.95 a month if you have a host for your pictures, but you can work on your auctions and save them and there are all sorts of other things, like scheduling, that I don't use.

Go here and check it out: http://classic.auctiva.com/

And think about trying it. Smile

Hi,
Can i transfer my setting from free auctiva to auctiva poster?
Do you have the same trouble posting as the free auctiva does?
Can you set poster profiles like you can on free auctiva?
I am thinking about switching to poster and ebud. any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have been using poster since it came out and CANNOT concieve of how else i could have done my ebay business. i signed up for the free site but only have posted two items using it.

i sell rings that come in dozens of styles but each is individually made and poster has helped because at the begining of each year i make a new subfolder in the "listings" folder and the "pictures" folder into which i put, lets say all the janurary 06 pictures and listings. i have done this for the last 5 years or so, so i have a HUGE library of listings and photos. i name all of the pics of my items with the date followed by a desriptive name i.e.- jan4pyramidring.JPG and then use the name as the name of the listing.

when i have items to sell, i take the pics and edit them and name then with the date etc.,upload the pics to my server and then open up Poster and my windows search and pint it towards my auctiva folder. when i do a search of my auctiva folder for "pyramidring", i will get every listing, with pictures for every "pyramidring" that i have posted in the last FIVE years. this lets me choose the closest match to what i want to post and all i have to do is "tweak" the listing instead of starting from scratch.

NOW.....if auctiva came up with a program that would allow me to open a listing in my poster folder and "rip" the info so i could plug it into the freesite, then maybe i could do the same thing i do now and use my years of work with poster to transition over to the web system.

also......am i right in guessing that there is currently no way for me to do it my way on the free site? meaning.....save my listings to aid me with new listings far out in the future?

thanks for any input - chriS

p.s.- i would be sooooooo lost without Poster and i am a user of the ORIGINAL eBud

Hi frenchyvnh,

You actually can save your listings and organize them into folders, that can be used to aid you with your future listings on the free Auctiva website. However, is is not possible to tranfer the listings that are saved in Poster to an account on the free site.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please file a support request using the appropriate link on our help page:
