Dear Movie Seller,



Since you are one of our largest movie sellers, I wanted to send you a note to emphasize the importance of using Item Specifics and Pre-filled Item Information when listing.



On March 15-16, eBay will simplify the category structure in the DVD, VHS, Laserdisc, and Film by replacing the lower levels of the existing category structure with Item Specifics. Now Sellers listing in Movies should use Item Specifics to provide the product details previously described by the lower level category selection.



In order for your items to be listed successfully, all sellers who list DVDs, VHS, Laserdisc, and Film items will need to use the following categories to list:



DVDs and Movies > DVDs (ID: 617)

DVDs and Movies > VHS (ID: 309)

DVDs and Movies > Laserdisc (ID: 381)

DVDs and Movies > VHS Non-US (Pal) (ID: 1508)

DVDs and Movies > Film (ID: 63821)



These category IDs are live today as the “Other” sub-category under each higher-level category, so you can get an early start on changing your listing process.



We encourage sellers to list their items with Item Specifics or Pre-Filled Item Information, so buyers using the Product Finder (the drop-down boxes on the left-hand side of Search and Listings pages) will be able to find your listings. Listings that do not use Item Specifics will not appear to buyers using the Product Finder.



There are two ways to select item specifics when listing an item in Music:



1. Listing with Pre-Filled Item Information automatically populates most Item Specifics. Sellers will still need to select the “Condition” Item Specific (i.e. New/Used) to better assist buyers in finding products.
