I just had an argument with a buyer that my listing said that shipping was free. Well, you know what? It says that. I just checked a number of other listings, and they all say shipping is FREE. I suggest everyone take a look at this article:
Since encountering this I have come across the fix, in the "shipping Terms" check the radio button that says "No Shipping Details". If you have "Flat Rate Shipping" checked and have the amount as 0.00, it comes up as FREE. Thank you eBay.
eBay changed this all around last week, as as Tom says, they use the API, so it just follows their changes. Nice of them to assume "Free". So far I haven't had any overly bad experiences with buyers, but several have questioned me about it. One wanted "proof" before he would pay shipping.
Imagine how many thousands of sellers and listings this is happening to?
Secondly, I wrote to eBay about this. Here was the reply:
Thank you for writing.
We are aware that some sellers have reported that listing pages are displaying "FREE" shipping on their items if they did not specify a shipping amount or chose the "will provide costs later" option when they listed their items.
We have located the cause of this error and repaired it to prevent future occurrences.
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.
