Is there a way to have Poster stop at the final eBay "submit" page? I need to schedule auctions for a future time and want to use eBay's site to do it. They have never missed a post and do not make me use a 4 hour window like Auctiva does. I want to post about 70 items with 2 minute intervals. Best I can tell, this can only be done thru eBay's posting page.

If I cannot stop at the "submit" page, you have rendered Poster completely useless to me.

Thanks again for another "Auctiva knows best" "one size fits all" upgrade.

NOT!!!

Another reason to stop at the "Submit" page.

It is the only way I can find to put a check mark in the box for "The description already includes a picture URL for my item."

Please either include these options in Poster or give us back the chance to edit them before posting our items.

RE: your scheduler

Please tell me how to post 70 items starting at 6 pm Sunday with 2 minutes between each one. I can do ths with eBay's scheduler (but only if I stop at the submit page).

RE: picture URL

I have "URL=http://www.auctiva.com/1x1.gif" as my "Logo Picture URL".

eBay is not picking this up. What am I missing?

Tom,

I think I have your scheduler figured out, but I still can't get rid of the extra pictures. What am I missing?

Thanks,

Dale

Our scheduler runs fine.

If you set your template up correctly you dont need to check that box, it'll already be checked.

---------------------

So what is "correctly"???? I used the default settings for both eBay and eBay Stores and neither checks the box or clears the picture location.

Right now I have to revise every auction manually.

We have no other reports
When you do a search for your items there should be ebays little logo beside the item.

Send us a item to look at but we have done it this way for at least 4 or more years.

If you choose gallery you see your actual picture in a search

Ed,

Thanks for the reply. I tried to post an item to show what is happening and got the following error message. I'll try again in a few minutes.

Dale

Auctiva Error
Error Code: none
Error Message: AuctivaError: An error has occurred while accessing our database. DETAILS: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.

Ed,

I tried again and got an item to post but also an error message saying:

Unable to continue posting.......unkonwn Auctiva error.....HTML error #500....

---------------------
Please compare:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=23816&item=3681018506

to

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4305873979

The small preview photo and the large photo on the bottom only started showing up after upgrading to 4.00.

Nothing was changed in the themes, personalities, etc. Only the version of Poster.

I now have to manually edit every auction after posting to clear the address for the photo and check the "description includes photo" box. This is not the gallery listing.

I have the 1x1.gif listed and get the "photo" icons in my listings.

Thanks,

Dale

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4305873979<<

that is how ebay works now
The title image on the top left requires the images url also
So you get two images but only one really loads
ebay as of yet will not allow us to go back to using either the dummy or the image url

But we started this actually a few months ago Smile

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4305873979

That item is as it is intended to be though.
It will put the image at the bottom as you're seeing.

Thanks

Ed,

Thanks for the reply.

I guess I have to skip your scheduler and post manually so I can edit each auction as it is posted. I want the cleaner (1 picture instead of 3) listing.

Thanks,

Dale

Hi
It is not the scheduler but any way you post
it is 2 images if you use eBays forms
That title bar was added by them.
The Poster still puts the image in the html as we have for years.
They change it where they require the image for hte picture url so the title bar works
If you put that 1x1 gif there you lose that ebay image and just display a null blank gif

The 3rd image does not require the page to load any slower as it's just the same image twice.
As of now there is no workaround that in our settings

But it's goign to do this with any form of posting with the Auctiva Poster, post, online or Local scheduling

Mr Poster has 4 images per auction

1.) 116x96 title bar image
2.) thumbnail image
3.) 400x300 image
4.) the full size image for supersizing

Images #1-3 are pretty small. Image 4 can be pretty large if you are taking it at very high resolutions with your digital camera or scanner.

Thanks
Ed

Hi,

Thanks again for the reply.

I must not be expressing myself correctly. I understand what is happening. I just want the preview and large image on the bottom to go away. I put my own picture(s) near the top of a auction that fits on a single 800 x 600 screen and consider the preview to be a distraction and unnecessary duplication of information.

The repeat of the original picture (full size) looks like a mistake, as it is just below the original on some of my pages.

I try to subscribe to the old world idea that a page should display all important information on one screen and require only one page down to view entirely. Also it should contain no distractions to the main point (here is my product), or more information than a reader can digest in a few seconds.

I don't blame Auctiva for the format change by eBay.

I just want the option of stopping just before the "submit" button is clicked to verify layout, fees and to "correct" any unwanted changes eBay is making to my layout. This is where Poster 3.xx stopped and I want that option back.

Thanks again for replying,

Dale

Hi
The API skips the old eBay preview so it's not possible now for that to work. It also has to go through the API :/
I am not sure if there is way to do this without having to pay eBay for each time you list a auction.

The programmers can chime in with the facts but the API we are using can not do what you want I am afraid.

Sorry

Thanks
Ed
