I found these in my Add or Remove Programs under Control Panel and was wondering if I should delete them as I don't know their functions. If you know what they are and what they do please let me know. Also should I delete them or not as I wonder if it would harm my computer and/or if they might have shared files with a program I use. I hear you never want to delete any .dll's. Here they are so help me out if know one way or another ...

DFX 8 for Windows Media Player
DivX Codec, Content, Uploader, Converter, Player, Web Player
Highmat Extension to Microsoft Windows XP CD Writing Wizard
Hyper-Threading Technology Test Utility
JZSE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2,4,6,9,10 and 11
K-Lite Codec Pack 3.5.0 Standard
Microsoft .net Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1
MSXML 4.0 SP2. and 6.0 Parser

Hi ,they look like various system add on applications and some like MSXML and .net framework related which are definitely necessary to support some modern applications.

Don't know about K-Lite but that may be associated with a communications card or the like.

Unless any are causing grief and you are absolutely sure I would advise to leave them well alone Smile

P.S. never ever delete a dll file directly it can lead to confusion to your PC and even failure of a PC to start up.

Only uninstall via provided uninstaller programs, they should delete dll's as appropriate.

I just noticed them and their sizes and felt if they were not needed I would delete them to save on size and loading time when opening windows

Hi in the main Windows only loads what it needs and thinks it will need, also anything subsequently not used eventually gets kicked out again when it runs out of space for the programs it actually requires.

As I experience it anti-virus programs seem to be the biggest slugger of performance and cause of slow start ups for a given machine than anything else.

And we can't do without them either !
