I recently deleted my auctiva acct. b/c after generating my ebay token I recieved an email stating someone had gotten into my ebay acct and they changed my password. Im skeptical of doing this again. What caused someone to gain access into my acct. after I linked auctiva w/my ebay. im having trouble listing on ebay right now b/c of my dialup and want to use auctiva again but don't want anyone else getting into my account.

Hi,

It might be just an odd coincidence. I've been using Auctiva for the last 2 1/2 years, and haven't had any problems. I wonder of the Email was actually a misunderstanding by eBay on implementing the token. I know they are tightening access restrictions and doing verifications (by phone). Did you talk to the Auctiva folks, e.g. Support Case, when it happened?

Other thoughts/suggestions....

Are you running any Antivirus Suites that might help against hackers? If not, I'd install one and run some scans of your system to make absolutely sure it's not a problem at your end.

I'd suggest using a separate/different account ID with Auctiva vs. eBay.

Don't respond to phishing EMails (and know how to spot them). I report every one I get for eBay or PayPal to their spoof reporting eMail addresses by forwarding the problem Email with no changes ....

spoof@ebay.com

spoof@paypal.com

I get nice letters back from them thanking me for helping.

Yes I do have virus/spyware/etc protection thats why I was suprised there was a problem. I have been on auctiva for years and used it. I hadnt signed in for a while and when I did thats when it was prompted to do the token thing. It was a real ebay email. I had to go thru them and get a new password b/c mine had been changed. I guess ill try it once more and if it happens again I wont be using auctiva anymore
