Hi,
I charge for shipping insurance in case an item is damaged or lost in the mail. I will click on the chart to see what rate to charge. As of January 8, 2006 the rates went up but this is not reflected in the chart Auctiva has. How do I go about letting them know? I could not find an email address to tell them. Does someone have a way to contact them?
Thanks Smile

Hello sigi104,

We are aware of the changes and will update that page soon. This is actually great, as it makes our rates even more attractive.

I am still waiting for your Postal Fee chart to change. When? Also there are other features - "Reports", "Inventory" that have been saying "coming soon", It has been months. Love using Auctiva, though for some reason can't get Item Description to work on AOL or Internet Explorer.....

If you really have to know the exact rates the USPS charges you can always go to USPS.com, click on "All Products and Services" at the top and go down to "I" for the Insurance link. I use it all the time. I imagine it can be bookmarked as well.

I hope you realize the amount of development required to implement these features. They are by no means trivial.

Hi sigi104 -

I personally updated the USPS rates on our site. I am wondering if you are maybe looking at a cached version of the Auctiva Shipping Insurance page?

This is the link to the page on our site:http://www.auctiva.com/help/faqshipping.aspx

Here is the link for the USPS insurance rates:
http://www.usps.com/insurance/welcome.htm

If you know of a specific page on Auctiva's site where the rates are still off please send me a link to that page as soon as possible. I thought we gotten them all, but you never know, a page might have hidden Wink

Thanks!
Cara

WRONG!!!! -Auctiva Shipping Insurance vs. USPS Insurance -WRONG!!!!

It appears the current rates have been updated but the comparison is NOT CORRECT.

On the comparison chart labeled "Auctiva Shipping Insurance vs. USPS Insurance"
the first column is titled "Insurance Coverage (Auction's Closing Price)"
This is not accurate. It is in fact (Auction's Closing Price + the S&H charged)

This is a FALSE comparison between USPS and Auctiva as USPS does not charge to insure the shipping cost.

In other words...

So if I sold an item for $45 and shipping was $7 USPS would charge $1.35 for up to $50 in coverage shipping but Auctiva would charge $2.20 ($1.70) for basically the same coverage.

Also, the USPS and UPS give the option to select the amount of coverage. Does Auctiva? In other words in the above scenario would I have the option to select just $50 of coverage? Or if I sell something and the combined shipping and cost is $100.01 am I stuck paying an extra $0.75($2.45 - $1.70) for $0.01 of coverage?

eBay's checkout and shipping calculator is set inline will all the major shippers so your buyers would get a SUPRISE if you use Auctiva's checkout and you would be short changed and loose money if you try to purchase insurance manually from Auctiva afterward.

Does anyone else think there is something wrong here?

Hi SoldItToday,

The reason we require that the shipping charge be included in the shipping insurance policy is so the buyer is insured for ALL of the money paid for an item. This is especially important on eBay when so many sellers charge high shipping costs that are often greater than the price of the item being sold.

Our insurance policies cannot be based on stated value as they can be at the post office. The amount of the policy is always exactly the total of the end of auction value and the shipping cost.

Mike,

Thank you for your reply. Why don't they update the chart to reflect "The amount of the policy is always exactly the total of the end of auction value and the shipping cost." ?

As it stands it appears that Auctiva only charges on the end of auction value and NOT the shipping cost. This is MISLEADING!!!!

Thanks
Mitch

If I choose not to use Auctiva shipping insurance and I use it in e-bay, why is it that and the end of the sale it states there was no insurance purchased? Do I pay Auctiva for insurance plus the Post Office when I mail the item? What do I do if my item is damanged during shipping using Auctiva ins.? Where is my proof that I purchased ins. from Auctiva. I think I would rater just use this in e-bay and pay the Post Office when I ship it. I get a receipt that I did pay for ins. Your answers are very much apprecitated. Thank you.

Check out the Shipping Insurance link on this page:
http://www.auctiva.com/free_auction_software_help/help.aspx

Although I don't understand your first question, unless that "not" wasn't supposed to be there.. If you opt out of Auctiva insurance then there can't any insurance purchased through Auctiva.
