Are people leaving images up there for auctions long since closed, feedback left - nothing more to do? Does this clog up your system? I always delete mine when the auction is finished - I have the pic on my computer, anyway in case any problems arise late.

Should users be counseled as to how to properly delete images and when to do it, to make sure they aren't wasting space?

Can this help with the image problems?

I'm about to lose some $$ with my auction that is ending in minutes, with tons of questions, lots of watchers - all waiting for the last minute - and now no pics! ARGH!

Hi ubuy-isell,

The issue causing the images to go out a few times in the last week was unrelated to the number of images hosted on our servers.

I definitely appreciate your concern...but deleting images won't help, except that it may perhaps make the user's image archive easier to navigate.

Personally, I think it's best to leave your images here as long as the listing is still available on eBay. That allows the buyer to compare the listing photo to the item they receive (even if the shipping somehow takes a month or whatever) and if a dispute comes up you can still refer to your listing photo (if the photo's simply on your computer, you don't have any way of proving it's the same photo used in the original listing).

That's my two cents. I've never bothered trying to free up space because Auctiva has never said it's necessary. Also, I suppose if it ever became necessary then they could probably set up an auto-purge to their specifications.

Hi,
Just curious......You say you delete your images on closed auctions. Did you check to see if your images are actually deleted?
I just happened to see your message and you are one of the few who delete images so I would really like to know if your images did delete.
I cannot get mine to delete no matter what I do and Auctiva Mike is checking into this.
If you have time, please let me know.
Thanks

I am not sure as I have only been using Auctiva for a couple of months, but I am pretty diligent about cleaning up the photos as I don't like to have all those images trying to load when I go to create new listings. I figure if the auction is over, it's over! Getting kind of discouraged with number of outages though in such a relatively short period of time.

I mainly delete images (after FB is received - or 90 days has passed) just so I don't have to scroll through them all in my Auctiva.

I've never checked the closed auction to see if the pics are gone from that, because I really don't care about that.

I go to manage images, find the folder the images are in, delete the individual images and then go back and delete the folder.

I always have a copy of pics on my 'puter, anyway and I delete them when I'm positive I won't be needing them anymore.

So, as Mike D says - it just makes my own image archive easier to navigate, and that makes me happy.
