Is there a way to get your images on listings created through Auctiva without having to download them onto the Auctiva site? That is just an extra time consuming step that I feel is unnecessary for me since I do not use it to edit my pictures. And with the upload problems they have had lately it certainly does take a VERY LONG TIME

Well, you have to upload your pictures to somewhere...they are not going to show up from your computer. You could upload your pics to another service, however.

As Rick said, your pictures do have to be hosted on the web to be displayed in eBay listings. Uploading images should not be an extremely time consuming process though...it usually takes a few seconds per image.
