Hello I have a few quick questions.
I already have an Authorize.net account and have setup checkout through Auctiva. I just needed to know what steps I needed to go through to start using Auctiva checkout. Here are my questions

1.I currently have Ebay checkout disabled because I send my buyers a link in the winning bidder email directing them to my site for payment. Do I need to enable Ebay checkout? If so do I have to accept Paypal as a form of payment, because I only accept money orders and credit cards that I can charge with authorize.net

2. Will Auctiva checkout start on the auctions and ebay store inventory that I have currently have listed.

3. Any other things that need to know about using auctiva checkout?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

1) No, Auctiva checkout will override your eBay preference for checkout. Paypal is not a requirement of Auctiva checkout, you can choose to accept any combination of the available payment methods on a per item basis.

2) It goes like this... items posted via Auctiva with checkout enabled will continue to use Auctiva checkout even if you turn it off in your account, since this information is stored along with the other listing details sent to eBay. So, it's a matter of when the item was posted and the current setting of your accout that determine wether a listing will use Auctiva checkout or not. The same thing goes for turning on checkout after an item has posted.

It sounds like you've had it turned off from the start before you posted anything so I'd guess that none of your listings running right now are set to use it.

3) You should verify your Authorize.net settings before you turn on checkout with credit cards as a payment method. The main thing is to have the required fields in your "Payment form" settings on Authorize.net match your checkout settings in Auctiva for the required fields to send. Other than that you should be fine. Doing a test of checkout for yourself to verify things is also reccommended. It's pretty easy to do this if you have two eBay accounts by posting a listing in the test category (14111) and purchasing it with your other account.

Let me know if you have any other questions! Big Grin

Regards,

Joe

I ran the test but when I get to the part where I have to pay it just says error and doesn't tell me whats wrong. I checked the settings on my authorize.net account and it seems to be in order. The only question I have is that when I signed up for auctiva and entered in my authorize.net info it asked for my id and then a transaction code what is that? I assumed it was my authorize.net user name is that correct?

That's strange, were there any other details about the error?

Yes, you should have your Authorize.net account userid and also a unique transaction key that serves the purpose of authenticating the request like a password does. I can't remember off the top of my head exactly where that is in your Authorize.net settings but it shouldn't be too hard to find.

to generate a transaction key, go to authorize.net ( https://secure.authorize.net )

click Settings and Profile in left column

scroll down to the section labeled Security and click Obtain Transaction Key

once you generate the key, copy and paste it into auctiva (in the box for transaction key).

You still pay, but if you go with a start price of .01 it shouldn't end up costing much of anything, and it's well worth the peace of mind knowing that things are working as they should.

Joe

Hi,

Do I have to sign up with authorize.net or other same kind of company to receive virtually any online payments ?

Do I need to be a business person ?

thanks,
