So...I think that I finally have the listing thing figured out, but I am still a little confused about how the checkout procedure works. Once the auction closes, is the buyer notified by Ebay or Auctiva of a "win"? I also came across the auto generated emails that can be modified. Am I supposed to do anyting with this feature? Any help/explaination/advice that you can give this newbie on checkout is greatly appreciated. This part still really seems to confuse me!

Hello Sophia's Mom
Excellent questions. When a buyer wins your auction, eBay sends them a winning bidder notification email. Auctiva also sends a winning bidder notification email. Now you can turn off Auctiva's Winning Bidder email, but they will ask you not to because it helps them keep Auctiva free. And I agree. I use Auctiva's email and love it. It gives you the power to fully customize your emails that you send to your customers. They have great looking templates and they look professional.
At your Auctiva Homepage, click on SALES tab
You will see the 'Customer Email Templates' section. This is where the magic happens. You can modify the default email templates or create your very own. Customize them with whatever information you want. With all the custom template tags available to you, there is not one bit of information lacking for your customer. Again, this is a great alternative to eBay's email system.
Now as far as I know there is no way to turn off eBay's end of auction winning bidder notification, however, you can customize it and in that you can erase a lot of the information and simply tell the customer that their invoice will be sent shortly and that this email is simply a confirmation of their win.
The good thing is... your Auctiva Winning Bidder email should come in after eBays, which means its at the bottom of the customers new email and usually the first to be seen.
Thank-you so much or your detailed response. Little by little I am getting the hang of this! So now I just have one more question...if I choose not to cusomtize at this time, will Auctivia automatically fill in the default email with my information to be sent out at the close of the auction, or do I need to do this?
Right now I am just running one auction at a time until I am clear on how everything works, so this wouldn't be a big deal for me to fill it out. But, in the future if I have more than one auction closing at a time this would be a problem. How does this work?

Again, thanks for everything!
Hello again Sophia's Mom,
I need to clarify my response to you a bit. I typed that way to fast last night... I was up 20 hours working and am glad to be back now to clarify. lol I'm surprised no one else did. Good for me! I like fixing my own issues!
Okay, so lets back up.
When your item sells, eBay sends an invoice to allow the customer to pay for it. If you have Auctiva Secure Checkout turned on (by default it is on when you create your account), when the customer clicks the Pay Now button it will bring them to your Auctiva Checkout screen. Auctiva Secure Checkout is integrated with eBay.
Auctiva sends out a Winning Bidder Notification Email that simply states, "Hey you won, grats!" lol and whatever other customized information you put in there. (they don't pay from this email, only through the invoice that eBay sends or any invoice reminders you send manually from your "My eBay")
So to answer your new question, there is very little for you to do to complete a sale. Everything is setup to work as long as your options and email addresses and eBay preferences are setup correctly.
Everything else is customization as you go.
I hope that clears things up! You'll learn a bit more every day and as you gain confidence in Auctiva you will see it is quite the cool thing.
Just send me an email if you ever need some assistance, I'll do my best to get you the right info.

A nice handy list of proper eBay and Auctiva settings and preferences for a smooth end of auction checkout process (all in one location, not across many screens) would be a great benefit to Auctiva....
Maybe it is out there, but I have yet to find it.
