eBay now allows the poster to say whether or not you want shipping insurance on domestic shipping, international shipping, or both. As of this writing, auctiva only lets me choose yes or no to insurance in general.
Will we be able to choose no for domestic and yes to international any time soon?
I want to charge international insurance but not domestic and I would really like to be able to do this.
Can it either be done or is it being planned at Auctiva?
It is not currently possible to set different insurance options for international and domestic shipments when listing through Auctiva. However, we are aware that eBay recently added this option, and we will be adding it to our website as well with a future release.
Unfortunately, I do not have a good idea when this development will take place at present...but its definitely planned
I've had a situation today where a buyer from Finland has added on the postal insurance I have set (which is just the general one for the UK). Not there fault, as they aren't to know. So now I have to pay an extra £3 myself to cover what it'll cost to send this item insured to Finland. Which is a bit of a pain, cos it basically means I'm making a grand total of 0p from the auction!

Hi GameFacePD, if the item is not of that much value and you are fairly confident of your packaging, why don't you self insure the item? The risk of the item getting lost or damaged is minimal.Several other people I have dealt with in the past insure the items themselves and said that in the long run they have made far more off of insurance fees than they have paid out in claims. I am not suggesting you do this yourself at all times but perhaps in this case it may work for you.
