Don't know how it happened if your preferences are set, but if it were me, I'd refund in full and send a correct invoice asking her (nicely of course!) to please repay.

Had a buyer change an invoice today and choose "Canadian Post" although I only ship to US and she is in the US, so it showed $0.00 for S/H. This was a combined invoice and looking at my eBay invoice to her, the shipping is correct. I've refunded and re-invoiced through eBay. Somehow, it was through Auctiva that she was able to change the invoice. My eBay preferences do not allow buyers to change invoices.

Hi livenletlivedave,

I reviewed your Auctiva account and found that you have the "Allow buyer to edit total amount" setting disable there as well so, if you have not changed this setting since this occurrence, we would need to investigate your situation further to see how the buyer was able to adjust the invoice.

If you had the "Allow buyer to edit total amount" setting disabled within your Auctiva account at the time this happened, please contact our customer support department using the appropriate link on our help page: http://www.auctiva.com/free-auction-software-help/help.aspx

Hi Mike and thanks for the responses to both my posts. My settings have always been to not allow buyer to change invoice, I really don't know how the shipping was changed to $0.00, I looked at my copy of the invoice from eBay and the amounts are as I entered, but when the buyer went through Auctiva checkout, the shipping amount and method got changed.

I am having the same problem! I now have my settings to NOT allow buyers to edit totals, but somehow or another they are able to pay less than the invoice I sent to them and it slides through.

Still a problem.. It does seem to be on the Auctiva checkout end. I also buy on e-bay and have had to sometimes go through Auctiva checkout myself, and I don't see how its possible to change the shipping??? Yet, it does happen. Not all the time, but it is still happening.

I was told Auctiva would investigate but I've never heard another word. I still have Auctiva's checkout turned off. I like everything about Auctiva but the checkout. I believe it's a glitch but the problem was that after I refunded the auction that the shipping had been changed in, Auctiva checkout would not allow the buyer to pay the correct amount, saying that the checkout had been completed. Hopefully Auctiva IS investigating as Mike said. My solution for now is to just use eBay's checkout.

Hi Community,

The only circumstances under which the buyer should have the freedom to enter his/her own shipping cost when the "Allow Buyer to Edit Total Amount" setting is disabled is when the "Contact Seller or See Item Description" shipping option is used, or when eBay's shipping calculator cannot calculate shipping to the buyer's area, which could be due to a temporary error or otherwise.

As a matter of fact, I reviewed an auction just today in which, when I selected "United Kingdom" from the shipping calculator's country menu, an error message that said shipping cannot be calculated to that area and advising me to contact the seller for a shipping estimate was displayed. This is an example of a situation in which the buyer may receive a blank text box in which to enter the shipping charges during checkout.

Any additional questions or concerns? Please contact our customer support team using the appropriate link on our help page: http://www.auctiva.com/free-auction-software-help/help.aspx

This seems like an old post, but perhaps is still a continuing issue. With all the changes occuring, perhaps rechecking all those Preference settings is a good idea. Here's something that might help identify more possible causes for buyer change to invoice.

ebay always allows buyer to edit total in either of the following cases, i.e. regardless of the setting for Buyer Edit Option in preference (as noted and linked at the setting):

1. You did not specify any shipping costs or did not include the shipping calculator in your listing.

2. The buyer has an unusual ship-to location for which you did not specify shipping costs (for example, international locations).

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/contextual/buyer-edit-option.html

Do either of those situations apply to the problems and/or does that also apply to Auctiva checkout?

I've been thinking of "re-engaging" Auctiva checkout after two years, so I'm looking for any and all remaining issues before the attempt.
