I have had ongoing problems with Auctiva because almost weekly a customer says that they can not pay with Pay Pal. Here is a message one of my customers got from Pay Pal:

Important: Your seller uses , a customized payment system. This means that information such as shipping address, payment method and shipping costs will appear after you click the Continue button below...
Then nothing appeared and customer couldn't pay. I don't even know what a customized payment system is because all I use is Ebay and Pay Pal and Auctiva.

Then, many of my customers just get a System Error message. They check with Pay Pal and there is no problem with their account, but with my Auctiva.

It is so frustrating. I can't figure out what is going on with this. I checked other Auctiva messages on the board and it seems I'm not the only one. I have both an Ebay store and I do regular Ebay auctions. Can someone help? Thank you.

Hi,

I'd definitely enter a Support Case and document the problems with Auctiva.

However, if you'd prefer to NOT use Auctiva Checkout (and I don't), you can disable Auctiva Checkout and revert to using eBay Checkout. That setting is in your Auctiva preferences. I stopped using Auctiva checkout in Feb. 2006 due to similar problems. If there is any element of the system that has to approach 100% reliability, it's checkout. However, please note that PayPal has recently had alot of problems too. Frown

Thank you for the information. Auctiva's site is irritating. I took your advice and it took me 20 min. just to find where to change my Account Preferences. I don't have that kind of time. I even went to the Help section and typed in Account Preferences among other subjects...all to no avail. At any rate, Auctiva gave me a message after I changed my preferences and it said: This will take affect on my new auctions, not my old ones. So, does that mean it will take affect when my item relists or will I have to change each listing manually? I relist tons of items over and over. Any info. is greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to help me.

IMO it will only take effect on new listings (as stated at point of change). It honestly may not work on a Relist, as it's likely the listing embeds for checkout would still exist on a Relist and there is no revise feature to make the change on eBay's side.

I would enter a Support Case to confirm that opinion. It's possible the question has been asked before in the Forum, but things do change and yesterday's answer isn't always today's.

If one of the Techs spots this thread, they might respond here too.

Hi Ebay Veteran,

I'm not exactly sure what would have caused the first problem you are reporting, however, we don't have any "System Error" messages, so I'm inclined to believe those error messages most likely originated on Paypal's end. Based on conversations I've had with customers of ours, it seems pretty common for eBay/Paypal's customer support department to say a seller's "account is fine" and attribute the problem to Auctiva when that is not the case at all.

In any event, when you disable the Auctiva Checkout setting in your account, the listings that were posted through your Auctiva account while Auctiva Checkout was enabled will remain configured to use Auctiva Checkout, however, any listings you post or relist thereafter will not use Auctiva Checkout. Only items that are posted or relisted directly through your Auctiva account while the Auctiva Checkout setting is enabled will use Auctiva Checkout.

Any additional questions or concerns? Please feel free to contact our customer support team using the appropriate link on our help page: http://www.auctiva.com/free-auction-software-help/help.aspx
