If this is set to 'Yes' in 'Account Settings'(as mine is), what do buyers get to see? Do they get a choice of using Auctiva or PayPal or what.
Not being able to buy my own items I would like to know what buyers are seeing.
Also under the Sales/Transactions tab, my sold items don't update when payments have been made and its is saying I have to set up an account with authorise.net. Does this mean that even though I have use Auctiva Secure checkout set to 'Yes' that buyers can't use it?
This really isn't very clear and I don't intend ploughing in till I know what is going on. Can anyone help please.
They go through the Auctiva checkout in place of ebay Checkout. See the DEMO thread sticky in this (the Checkout) portion of the Forum. It's fairly similar to other non-eBay checkouts I've seen with some other eBay Sellers.
The use of authorize.net is referring to Merchant Cards, e.g. Visa, MC, AMEX. The option to use those cards is done through Auctiva checkout and your authorise.net account, which you can set in Auctiva Checkout Settings. That's an Auctiva option in addition to using those cards through a buyer's PayPal. If you don't have a Merchant account or don't want to use one, don't option for Merchant Credit Cards as payment method in the lister.
Note, you can also continue to use ebay checkout by change in Auctiva Checkout Settings.
To get your Transactions to sync with eBay, make sure you link for that by selecting "Track payment status for my eBay sales" in your Checkout settings.
One thing I always recommend to a new member, go through ALL your Auctiva account settings and double-check they are appropriate to your needs and understand what each one does before you begin listing.

I would like to get to know and use Auctiva's sales tools, particularly the auto email stuff. If I reset my checkout back to eBay will I affect my ability to do that?
Tough question....so, my example and logic on the issue might be my best response.
I use ebay checkout.
With the exception of the EMail for purchase of the Auctiva-UPic Shipping Insurance converage, I do all my notifications and eMails from eBay. I think to do otherwise is confusing to the Buyer (and they are spinning in place as it is with all the eBay changes lately like "Buyer Experience"...IMO ). I particularly don't want them to think I've somehow linked them to spam mail or some outside source they don't understand or want.

Yeh, that was worrying me too. Until a couple of weeks ago if I bought something and at the point of payment I arrived at Auctiva, I might have just cancelled the purchase.
I agree. If I switch back to Auctiva checkout (thinking about it), I would also switch to using their notifications, etc.
My two major concerns on switch-back are 1) stability/reliability of the checkout system (got to be approaching 100%), and 2) interlinkage fixed with eBay/PayPal to get reliable shipping selection (I use PayPal click-n-ship). Both of those are current issues.

Having set 'use Auctiva checkout' to No in my Auctiva settings, when does it become effective? Is it immediate or is it embedded in my listings somehow?
