I had a recent problem with the shipping calculator being way off and was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue. Buyer contacted me a said that the Checkout had been acting up and gave an incorrect shipping amount. So I after a couple of tries, I ended up sending an invoice through PayPal. When I filed a support request with Auctiva, they said it was eBay's area since they provide the shipping calculator. So, I sent a message to eBay and they tell me that since the shipping calculator is a "free service" they aren't responsible for any errors. They said I may have made a mistake in the weight of the item in the listing, or the dimensions of the box or whatever. Basically they won't take responsibility. But come on, I checked the listing and the weight was not messed up. The calculation said an item that weighed 5 lb. 8 oz. would cost $37.50 priority and $29.66 UPS ground from zip 61858 to 10022. It ended up costing me $5.95 UPS ground and final weight was 5 lb. That seems a bit outrageous, don't you think? Anyone else have any issues like this or close to it? If so, how have you handled it.

How did you ship it for $5.95? I just looked up the rate at UPS.com and it is $10.92

Failed to mention that I have a husband who works in shipping. I get a substantial discount. It also enables me to give discounts back to buyers.

Even at that, there is a huge difference. Don't you agree?

Hi
the shipping calculators on ebay have been off for quite a while now and many sellers are having these issues.
Ebay does not acknowledge there is a problem for the most part.

Just so you know, while reading the shipping boards over on ebay, a person who works for the post office said that when you list an item priority mail and it is. let us say 1 lb 3 oz. ,that means it is going to be 2 lbs to ship priority mail.
Apparently they don't figure in oz. just lbs.

In any event, the biggest issue right now, is that Auctiva really needs to address and fix their own section of the shipping info.

It needs to have for usps priority, a spot for measurements of the box (dimensions), weight and then a spot for location (zones 5-8 cost more money over 1 cubic ft size box).

Without this ability it makes listing difficult as once the listing hits, if you get bids, then you can not change your cost to ship once it appears.

And even if you attempt to revise thru ebay, the revision often does not work well if at all.

I really hope that Auctiva takes a look at the new and necessary shipping section on the new Sell Your Item form so they can see how it needs to be set up here.

I have no idea how UPS works as I don't use it.

Hi Sellingstuff,

Our new listing page uses the shipping dimensions for USPS priority and no longer just for UPS. Also, the very first field under Shipping Tools is a place where you can enter your zip code, and this is used for calculated shipping.

If you are experiencing problems with USPS calculated shipping for saved listings that were created before the USPS rate change date of May 14, you may want to update these saved listings to add the package dimensions. You can do this by creating a shipping profile, and then going to your saved listings page and using the search feature to filter for the listings you want to update, and then select those listings and click on "Find and Replace" and follow the instructions to apply the new settings to the listing.

Hope this helps!
