Hi, newbie here... I have been sending each buyer an email confirming that I have shipped out. My concern is that I dont want to duplicate, and send them more emails than they need. I'm sure they don't want their mailboxes cluttered with redundant emails. Any suggestions? Thanks, Daria
No, there are no emails sent automatically unless you have printed labels through Paypal. Then you and the buyer will get a message from Paypal that the label was created.
I think it's good customer service to do what you're doing. I too send each buyer a personal message through ebay messages, even tho I know they're getting one from Paypal...I've gotten many thank you's for the info, so if I were you I wouldn't worry about being redundant Most folks appreciate that personal touch.

From my personal buying experience, I love when I receive notification from the seller that they shipped my item. It relieves a lot of stress and wondering, especially with all the fraud going on nowadays. I almost always mention it when I leave feedback. Thumbs up to you
Though PayPal does send both the seller and buyer a notification when a shipping label is generated, I send an eBay Shipping Notification email to the buyer as well. I have personalized the shipping notification template so that it has a personal touch. When I started doing this, about a month after starting my eBay business, the emails asking if I had shipped stopped completely. This tells me that people either 1) don't get the PayPal shipping notification or 2) they get it but delete it thinking it is a duplicate from the money they just sent you. At any rate, my personal eBay shipping notification email works great! No customer complaints yet.
