Currently Auctiva charges buyers a slightly lower insurance rate than USPS, while giving the the seller a significantly lower rate. Basically I want Auctiva to add a feature so I could pass some/all of the discount on to my buyers, since lower insurance costs mean more people would buy it.

For chart see: Auctiva Help ~ Shipping ~ How does auctiva insurance compare with USPS

Example ONE: $49 of insurance cost the buyer $1.30 & me $1.05. I would like to charge buyers a flat $1.20

Example TWO: $199 of coverage costs $3.20 buyer & $2.45 me. I would like to charge US buyers $2.99 & International buyers $2.45.

If you feel as I do, PLEASE VOTE. If enough people vote than Auctiva will probably add the feature to a future version of their software.

Thanks for your time,
foriws

Question:
If you use Auctiva insurance & had the option to pass some/all of the insurance discount on to the buyer would you use it?

Choices:
Yes, I like Example TWO
Yes, I like Example ONE
No, leave things as they are
Maybe, it depends on what I am selling

I don't believe that a ten cent lower cost for insurance will create more buyers. Some buyers want insurance and some don't. Period. I've had buyers who have paid $1.30 to insure a $3. purchase which I feel is just dumb and I've had buyers who do not opt for insurance when the item is $75. and glass which is also dumb! The former I self insured and assumed the risk, the latter I paid for the insurance myself (just in case!)

Yeah, I can't honestly see a few pennies difference affecting a buyer's decision to purchase insurance.

Maybe I am reading the chart wrong. The way I am reading it, the savings is just OVER 20% on items under $50, while at $99 the difference is 22.5%. If you were in a store & saw a 20+% off sale on something you were interested in, you probably would consider buying it.

I can't see someone who pays $199 for an item NOT paying insurance for it because it's $3.20 and not $2.99.

At any rate, you can already change the rate that you charge your customers for insurance, so I don't think this is an issue, really.

I don't see that it will make much difference either. As stated you can presently change the amount. I sell quite a bit of glass/breakables and most buyers, do not want to even pay for insurance on this fragile item! For whatever my 2 cents is worth!!!! Wink
