First of all... I LOVE Auctiva. I am an avid user on 2 accounts of my own now and use it for customers I do trading assistant work for as well.

Is there any way to get the font larger in this feature? I have my description font large because my site probably will appeal more to older buyers, but the details being in fine print look like trouble.

The editor for the Seller Details has both an HTML mode (default) and a Standard mode. When you switch to standard mode, you get a toolbar similar to the lister. Try applying a Font Size to the text and see if that does the trick.
