Have you ever tried to work on a listing to find out you have to save it and the servers have logged you out and all of your changes are GONE?
Have you ever tried to list something on a Sunday night and it took forever.
I have BroadBand and it took nearly 5 minutes to post one listing to Scheduled listings.
More POWER and less timing out would be REALLY GOOD!!! I love the service but it slowes me down to the point it costs me more in time than I'm saving at eBay.
To create an add I have to save every three minutes or I lose everything.

Question:
How many people think they need to upgrade their servers?
Stop timing us out so much?

Choices:
Yes
No

This is a much needed survey for the freshman at Auctiva U. They are in need of a reality check. You are right, Auctiva is a great service but only part of the time. If you can stay up until 2 a.m. to do your listings, it is smooth sailing. Otherwise if you are in prime-time good luck! SLoooooooooooooooooow!!

More servers, improved website performance and other IT improvements are in the works.

You've probably seen the site offline on Thur and Friday nights lately (more than normal) as we have already started putting some of the improvements in place. You probably won't notice a difference just yet, but in the coming weeks we should make enough improvements for you to notice.

What about this?!

Why doesn't Auctiva come out with a sort of "list" or bulletin for everyone on the Top 5 (or 10 or whatever) ways to keep Auctiva running smoothely...

For instance...I'm sure that the servers are overloaded with excess "junk" that everyone has kept in their accounts...and if we as Users, would simply go in and "clean up" and "empty out" the excess, it would perhaps help 'speed up' the site since it's not having to carry all the "excess baggage"!

So, would it help the servers if we as users:
  • Empty the EVENTS Folder: so once you see your item has posted, or that you've fixed whatever issue it had to keep it from posting, delete the events! Why do we need to keep 200+ events in that folder that merely say "success, your item posted"? Great! Now DELETE IT.
  • DELETE photos that you no longer have products for (all that excess space is valuable when trying to list your auctions "fast").
  • DELETE auctions that have completed days, weeks, months ago if you no longer need to reference them, etc.

Those are just a few thoughts. With all these updates and maintainence issues, I thought it would be nice for once if we as users could do something to "help the site" and be less of a burden on Auctiva!

We complain of how pixs don't load and how sloooooow the site is running, but have we ever thought of a CONSTRUCTIVE way to HELP CORRECT the situation on OUR END instead of B __h & M __n (if you get my drift Wink) about the problems? NO! So I was hoping that some of those ideas would 'help', even if a little, would help.

That's all Big Grin

Auctiva, any thoughts?

Thanks,
Kathleen Smile

GREAT idea! I, for one, am doing just that this morning. Besides, it makes for much easier transportation through the site. We all need to do some Fall cleaning! If all of us got rid of what we don't need on Auctiva it will help them and help us all at the same time! Smile

Every little bit helps.

This is part of the cleanup we do Thursday night that makes us take the database offline for a few hours. We can't always delete active users old info though because we're not sure if they need it or not. So doing this will help a little overall for everyone.

Hi Scott,

Our database will be offline for maintenance beginning at about 11 PM PDT on Thursday night, and will last about 5 hours. This should definitely not cause any problems pertaining to your listings that are scheduled to launch on Friday night.
