I really don't want to complain because I have enjoyed all of the features that Auctiva has to offer. Some things are akward, but hey, it's free, and I have found many ways to work around some things I don't like.

My BIG COMPLAINT is the time that Auctiva schedules its maintenance and shuts down the site... which is on Thursday, starting around (-8 GMT), but usually starts earlier.

My wife & I have been selling on eBay since 2000. Our best sales come Sunday-Friday, with Tuesday-Thursday being the best, and Thursday being far superior to any other evening.

Saturday is the most non-performing sales day of all, especially the early morning. Thursday all day and into late evening is the best... for me personally.

I'm wondering what other sellers here think. Does the scheduled maintenance shut down cause problems for you like it does me?

I would suggest early Saturday morning (EST), say around 3am or 4am as the best time to shut down the site. I've never had good sales or bids during that time period. That would seem to better encompass all sellers in every time standard.

Thanks!

I too absolutely despise Thursday maintenance. I just, ONCE AGIN, forgot, while designing a very expensive item, with much research gathering invested, and alas.... LOST IT ALL AGAIN!!! PLEASE figure out a way to save your listing when these maintenance periods start!!

Also, Thursday is a good night to list, so wish they'd get a different night, and much later time in A.M! I think much less people would be listing in the A.M! ... My 2 cents!

Sorry but this is the same time eBay does theirs. I agree the slowest is Friday night into Saturday morning but we don't have anyone working then. Thursday night into Friday morning is the 2nd slowest which is why we, and I assume eBay does it then too.

If something goes wrong we need to have people around and that is better Thursday nights than Friday.

We monitor tens of millions of auctions a week and this is the slowest time next to Friday night. That's based on all auctions. Your category and items may vary but we're going with the averages here. If we switched it to another time then another group of users bigger than yours would complain that that time was horrible.

We're working on a database update which should be completed in the next 3 months which will allow us to minimize the maintenance window. Hopefully to under 2 hours and possibly maybe even 1 hour, or we may be able to go every other week or something like that.

In the US yes. We already start at 6am in the UK, and don't finish until 10 or 11am there. I can tell you a lot more people are listing then then at 10pm in the US.

Believe me there is no perfect time for this. I now see why eBay spent the hundreds of millions they did on shortening their maintenance and making it not noticable. I promise you if everyone using Auctiva were to pay us 5% + listing fees you will never see maintenance here again Smile

We're investigating ways to autosave as you are creating listings. We may have a beta as early as our January release but if not in the one after that.

Good point.

... now about the possibility of ever having a way of saving your work when your not sure if the maintenance has started... and, The ability to save work when auctiva is acting up. You can't just click back! All work is lost, and constant saves and reloads on time consuming listings are very slow and tedious?

I agree with jw23. Saturday mornings does not generate much traffic on my site either. I've only been selling on eBay since February of this year, and I try to get my site ready for the weekend daily traffic on Thursday nights. Is there any way the maintenance could be changed to Saturday mornings, say between 2 and 5?
