the-awesome-avatar.auctivacommerce.com At the moment we have sterling silver jewelry, some clothing, CPAP replacement supplies, and some music. We'll shortly be adding books, mainly textbooks. Very soon we'll be adding custom made items -- if you want it, we'll try to make it to order. This will include sewing, crafts, woodworking items, metal items, etc. In addition, we expect to be adding a made-to-order hobby CNC 5-axis mill and customized software.

Hi Gail, is it too late to get added to the store list? I just posted a new thread asking people to exchange links. I would love to be added to your list. Thanks so much, Carol Personalized Gifts for every occasion http://personalizedcustomgifts.com

Hello Gail, Would you please add me to your list too? I need to find out how to "do the link" for swapping logos. Is there any easy directions I can follow? Oh forgot to add what I sell: vintage, antique collectibles, glass & pottery specialty & originally designed plasma cut steel, hand wrought, powder coated, horny toads!!! Thanks enormously, Somebody/Muffyjo http://oldandnew4u.auctivacommerce.com

Hi Rose! Thanks for the logo exchange offer. I did get a link builder bookmarked yesterday which i am going to try out tomorrow. I will cut and paste your info into it, and hopefully mine (if I do it right). Give me a few days to get it working, and if I come across problems, I will let you know, or let me know if you see any from your end. I am not sure what you mean by category. Did you have a link page? I did not find one in your store, or I did not know where to look. I imagine my category would be quality antique, vintage collectibles and state of the art plasma cut steel horny toads including custom lettering. My store has an affiliate link page. So far Michelle helped me with my store and I only have hers, which she did for me. Now I am going to try to add others that are complimentary. I think yours will fit in fine. My specialty is antique, vintage collectibles, mainly quality pottery porcelain, & glass and then original plasma cut steel, hand wrought horny toads that sell from this store but market mainly from my other website, texastoadranch.com. I won't be able to start on the link process until tomorrow. i just got back from a long business trip & have to catch up. Cheryl

Farewell Awesome Avatar! I Wish you the very best. I am sorry it did not work out for you. I came on board in March & have not made one sale. Should I be looking elsewhere too? I hate to throw all this work away. I have spent long hard hours each day since that first day I came on board, and am still sweating at the brow trying to make my store attractive and desirable. See what I mean at http://oldandnew4u.auctivacommerce.comBuyers are more than welcome here! quote: Originally posted by The Awesome Avatar: I gave up. I thank everyone who has given me help. I started on my "5-minute store" in April and spent about 80 hours on it; most of the people here started around January and are still having trouble. It's time to start paying and it seems I still have about 4 months worth of work to "catch up" to the rest of you -- until I'm *really* ready to go live. I have no functioning google feed, meta tags, etc. Working on all of this didn't give me time for a welcome page or to put together more than just a few really nice items with good verbiage and layout -- in other words, no time for inventory. I wish all of you well.

I randomly clicked on 4-5 "banners" for the stores and they were all closed. Maybe this thread needs to be re-done - or something.

You're way ahead of where I was, Somebody; and I thank you for your kind thoughts. Your store looks really nice and you have all of the additional pages and so forth. Should you look elsewhere? I can't answer that, of course. What I can say is that I've been on and around a lot of different sites of various sorts for the past couple of years. They all seem very slow except for eBay and Amazon or those businesses which are known. I think it's the name recognition. People go there and don't realize there might be somewhere else. For instance, I've sold textbooks on textbookx.com . Have you ever heard of it? Probably not. If you needed a textbook, would you do a web search for the book or go directly to eBay or Amazon or a retailer? Most people probably wouldn't be doing the web search. Many people go back to the business suppliers on textbookx because they know them. I think it's going to take a while before more than token business comes to this site for anyone who has anything other than the unusual. My original thought was that eBay power sellers would come here and drive their customers here; that would get the name out. I still think this is going to happen, just that it will take a while. I was willing to pay for that time; I'm just not willing to pay for a "five minute store" that still has months of set-up before I can try to make a first impression. I may continue working on putting up a website; but it will be one over which I have all of the control, will be able do/plan how to do everything before I start paying for the space (I don't know how space is paid for on the web), and will have plenty of help. That help will come from one of my housemates who speaks about 30 computer languages; he's simply going to have to take some courses in web design if he wants to sell hobby grade, small, 2-axis CNC mills, 3-axis CNC mills, 4-axis CNC mills, and 5-axis CNC mills he's designing and building for hobbiests along with all of the custom metalwork and custom woodwork he's planning to be doing. (I wrote that this way for webcrawlers). His first machines are almost built; he can now take courses. When he's finished, I won't have to go through what we've all been going through just to figure out how to set up our "five minute stores." Maybe the Awesome Avatar will return somewhere under the same name! I really do appreciate all of the help everyone has given me and wish you all the very best. If anyone would ever care to write to me, my address is this_is_the_place@worldnet.att.net and my name is Marilyn. I feel I'd like to give back. If anyone has any programming questions (not html), my housemate will be happy to answer them if he can. In the meantime, my other housemate is putting in bids to make all sorts of things and doing quite well on ETSY. We were going to add her custom work to our store, too. ETSY doesn't allow "examples" of previous work; if she's going to sell a Civil War costume, she has to have one for sale in a specific size. If the Awesome Avatar comes back, this, too, will be a part of it. In the meantime, This is the Place, This is the Pla, and This is the Placed is still selling here and there (for the webcrawlers). this_is_the_place@worldnet.att.net quote: Originally posted by Somebody: Farewell Awesome Avatar!
