Hi,

I have just tried to upload a batch of 41 items. 12 of them went through fine, but the other 29 said that there was an "identified error". So I tried to load the batch again, as I have duplicate items, and this time all the items came up with the same error.

Two questions:

1. What is causing these errors and is there anything I can do to rectify it?

2. When only part of a batch is submitted, is there any way of selecting the other part of the batch that wasn't submitted. I don't usually double up with items, and don't want to have to delete items from a batch which I will use for listing at a later date?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Richard (ID idge44@aol.com)

It looks like our servers are having an intermitent problem reading the scheduling info off the hard drives.

I'm rebooting the server and we'll see if this clears things up. I'll post back to report how it goes.

As for re-posting the ones that failed, you can make a copy of your batch file and then delete out the ones that already posted and submit this new copy with only the items you want. That's the best thing I can think of for now.

Looks like things are running smoothly now. I haven't seen any problems reading the scheduling info since rebooting the servers.

Trying to submit a batch of 100 items tonight:

-------------------------------------------------
**1st Attempt: Posted 7 of 100 items with 93 ERRORS.

We then immediately resubmitted the 93 Items that did not post and were flagged as ERRORS.

-------------------------------------------------
**2nd Attempt: Posted 52 of the 93 items with 41 ERRORS.

We then immediately resubmitted the 41 items that did not post and were flagged as ERRORS.

-------------------------------------------------
**3rd Attempt: Posted the balance of 41 items successfully with no ERRORS.

-------------------------------------------------

In other words, it took 3 attempts to get a single collection of 100 items successfully submitted through Auctiva onto eBay. What are we doing wrong here?

A couple things...

The rebooting stuff that I talked about turned out to have nothing to do with the problem.

It turns out that people who were using the 'Post Now' option for scheduling, were having a problem with the information getting to the database before the actual scheduling info was written to disk. So, when the scheduler tried to post the item, the info about what to post was not existant.

If you view your confirmation pages and get an empty confirmation (it'll say something about no confirmation page available), then the error is most likely from what I just mentioned above.

Okay... so, in fixing this problem... I caused the uploading process for scheduled auctions to be down from about 6:45-7:45pm tonight. This would have affected all Mr. Poster users, not just 'post now' users.

You should be able to upload without a problem now. Also, the problem specifically for 'Post Now' users should be fixed as well now.

Sorry about all the problems. Let me know how things go for everyone.

Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113'

Script timed out

/Uploader2/upload.asp

The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.

What the heck does this mean on our batch confirmation page???

If you get that message, it means the website timed out processing your batch. This does happen from time to time and I'm guessing it happens most often during peak times of the day.

I've asked to see if we can increase the amount of time we allow for these things to process. For now, if you see this message, the best thing to do is delete the batch on the website and then re-try submitting it. Since it timed out, you actually won't know how many of the items got sucessfully uploaded until posting begins.

Kevin,

Still getting lots of errors this evening, eventually got one batch of 201 to post after a couple of tries, but was unable to post a second batch of 199. After 4 tries was able to list only 3 out of the 199. Confirmation pages not available on the errors. Server was timing out.

Are you guys getting some type of error in Mr. Poster on the page that comes up after you submit a batch? It's the page that says something about 'Your batch has sucessfully uploaded, click here to view it online'.

Also, are you both using the 'Post Now' option or are you scheduling the batch?

yes, using "post now" and was often getting error messages (don't remember the exact wording - one form was a blank page with an http 500 error, more often I got the script timed out error) on the confirmation page- was taking at least 3-5 minutes for the confirmation page to come up (I'm on DSL so my guess is that your server was having some kind of problem)

Using the "Post Now" option, this is the error message that comes up on the confirmation screen after batches are supposedly submitted through Mr.Poster:

-----------------------------------------------

Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113'

Script timed out

/Uploader2/upload.asp

The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.

------------------------------------------------

The first part of a collection will post normally, but it cuts off at some point which results in errors and those items having to be resubmitted.

Well, it took 4 attempts to get a single batch of 100 items started tonight. We're giving up on this for today. Hopefully this issue will get resolved soon...

A couple things...

The first is that we're moving a service that was taking up a lot of memory off of one of the servers that handles receiving the batches that are uploaded for scheduling. Hopefully this will help with the time-out problems we've been having lately.

The 2nd is that boogiebob found out that his picture hosting option actually got changed on eBay and that is why some of his items started failing. If you get the following error message on your confirmation pages, make sure to check your eBay preferences for image hosting.

"Your browser is not compatible with eBay Picture Services. Please use 'Your own Web hosting' to add pictures. Learn more."

The setting in your ebay preferences to check for this error is called: 'Update selling picture preference'. Make sure your setting is on 'Your own Web hosting'.
