Anyone willing to give help re selling of coins?

Found a candy box full of coins. Some are from the 40's and 50's. I started looking through them but have absolutely no clue what "matt proof" and other terms mean regarding coins. Can anyone give me the name of a book that I could get out of the library to help with looking at these coins or is there a website that might help me through this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated from anyone here who sells coins. Thanks in advance, Margaret

My first suggestion would be to check Amazon.com. even if you don't want to buy books, it would help you search for the books when you head for the library.
