Hi good evening! I've had the auctiva slider on my auctions for awhile but was skeptical of the other services. Now I've watched the tutorials and am ready to get started listing, but the only thing I don't quite get is the checkout.

In my situation I ship small items and combine shipping. So most of my customers buy for a week or two and then request a combined invoice or just combine and pay themselves. But they rarely use the checkout right after the auction ends. So, how would Auctiva apply in this situation? Will I have to alter my behaviour in some way?
Not sure Auctiva checkout would apply to me at all, I just don't really understand it, and I hate it when unforseen issues crop up after the sale. I've had that happen a few times with ebay when I tried some different deals and promotions. Long story. Anyway I'd like to understand how listing with auctiva might affect the checkout process--without possibly finding out the hard way. Thanks for being here! David Ancel

Hi David,
For your situation, right now, I would disable Auctiva checkout. There have been some 'unforseen issues' lately. I also sell more than one items to the same buyer and when I signed up for Auctiva, they didn't have the option of combining, and folks still have problems even now.
Use everything else you want, the service is GREAT, but since you're new it would be much easier for you to use Enay checkout, JMHO.
Auctiva itself is easy to use once you get the hang of it, but it IS a learning curve. I'd skip the checkout for now.
Just be sure to disable it in your account settings. Again, JMHO Smile
Good luck Smile
Hi David,

I knew that I'd seen that name before... my wife loves your dichroic jewelry Big Grin Welcome to Auctiva!

Just to put my two cents in, I'd agree that you'll probably want to stick with eBay's checkout. Auctiva's checkout has had issues since the beginning, not just recently (with all due respect to member_8880 Smile )

Everything else works very nicely.
I'd like to see those listings too.....gonna check it out!
I am so new to ebay that I am quite smittent with all the "stuff" on here.
I had trouble with the Auctiva checkout. Fortunately, it was only one customer. She never did make the Pay Now button work. She was ok about it and sent a money order which cost here over $5.00 to mail!!!! Eek
After thinking about the whole process I have wondered if she really had an PP acount or if it was really a gliche. Ebay said they could check through and didn't get a resolution here. So at the advice of these guys/gals, I switched back. It's worked fine on every other one!
It think Auctiva has a lot of the detail in the records here anyway. Seems like it to me anyway.
I tend to be communicative with buyers so she really did seem ok with it....we'll see when she posts feedback.
PS are these emoticons ok to use here? It is sorta my identity....ya know?
Thanks Biscuit! I will disable the checkout then. I was explaining to my wife last night how Auctiva works and how there are all these obscure esoteric ways that companies make money on the web. So if I understand correctly, if I disable checkout does that mean they can't get paid?

Not that its so important I guess, just curious. Thanks again for the help and compliments! Best, David
Our checkout combines, and works fine. Been combining for over a year and a half.

There are maybe 20 posts in the checkout forums, and most are questions about it, not problems. We're processing at least a million checkouts a month from a pretty large number of sellers. How does turning it off make things easier for the seller? I can't think of any ways. The only people I see suggesting to turn off the checkout are those that don't use it.

We're a free service but we need things like checkout turn on to keep it that way. What I'd suggest is to leave it on. If it ever becomes a problem turn it on then.

It's better for a seller to process their own checkout. It gives you more power, and eBay less. That is a strong position to be in. Unfortunately eBay knows this so they have stupid rules that do things like ban Google payments. That can't last forever though. Having your own checkout also lets us brand the checkout as you, upsell your items, accept credit cards through your own merchant account if you'd like etc. More power, and more choices for the seller, less for eBay, and that can't be anything but a positive for the seller. Also consider that when we add stores your buyers won't be able to combine purchases from your store and eBay unless you have our checkout enabled.

I really would prefer to use Auctiva check out.....but when I started it a buyer couldn't use the pay now button. She tried for two days. Another one couldn't use it either and she was savvy enough to "use the back door", which I didn't know what that meant at the time. People here told me.
I wrote to Auctiva "help" "support" but I never did get an answer.
Checkout and payment is one of those things that can create a mess. Ebay checked it right away and said they couldn't find anything wrong so to check with Auctiva, but when I did I didn't get an answer. The buyer ended up spending money on a money order and over five bucks for sending it by mail.
It could've been a fluke, or a problem on her end but I don't know! But twice in one day? No one responded.
I'd be willing to try it again IF I could have immediate help if it didn't work.
I'm not being defensive or beligerent, please don't think I am. But getting support on Auctiva is not immediate, and sometimes not forthcoming at all.
What is the solution?
Try it again and "possibly" have another mess up And have someone there to help get the payment through? That'd work for me.
