Are you revising them directly on EBAY??? or are you trying to do it here? Once your items are sent "LIVE", any revisions you need to make, you need to go directly to eBay and revise them there.

Simply go to your My eBay page and to the right of your items there is a Drop-down menu of options for you to choose from, choose Revise and fix whatever section you need to. You can also access your auction be directly opening it (by clicking on the auction link) and then choosing Revise listing at the top/left of the auction page.

Your problem seems to be that you're using UPS as your one and only shipping choice. I would add US Postal Service parcel post and then priority as my first two shipping methods, then UPS last. UPS is always higher.
When you revise, it will take your listing off for I think a 24 hour period unless you're just adding to the listing. Make sure on that first before you revise,(it's been ages for me and things may have changed) because if it's in the last couple days your listing won't show back up til it's nearly over.

Okay, I did revise all of them and chose the post office instead of UPS. Yes, indeed, the shipping dropped by half! Wow! I totally thought UPS was cheaper!

Any chance I can add the counter after a posting is active?

A hit counter, Amy Kay? Sure, go to revise your item in eBay and you can add a counter from there.
USPS is almost always cheaper than UPS for small/light parcels. UPS is better for larger/heavier parcels.
