Hi pattycyn,

Thanks for continuing to look into this. I admittedly have not heard the conversation you are referring to and I am uncertain what that conclusion was based on, but I am unable to support the assessment that this is happening because our system is resizing the images placed in the Optional eBay Gallery Images section upon submission to eBay at this point.

However, I have done some additional testing with respect to this situation over the course of this week and my results have matched what you reported precisely. In each test listing posted through Auctiva, the “zoom” feature has shown up when using only one gallery image and has failed to show up when using multiple gallery images.

I then posted a listing through the eBay Sell your Item form by placing the URL's of the exact same Auctiva hosted images from my previous test in the “Copy Web Files” section and the “zoom” feature showed up even when using multiple images.

We have passed this information along to eBay's technical team and we are hoping that they will be able to determine why this is occurring and, while I'm not in a position to make any promises as to what the results will be, I will report back here with any new information I am able to uncover about this.

So I bit the bullet and did a listing on eBay's sell your item form. Not used to it and took me terribly long?!? but added 6 pictures, all of which have the ZOOM feature. ALL are listed in the upper Gallery area, but I DO MISS the added pictures within my listing. SO I don't know what to do.
My ORIGINAL PICS ARE ALWAYS 3264 X 2448. So then Auctiva resizes them to 1260 or something like that which has been fine until the PUSH to optimize for the Gallery pack at the top.

I still want to use AND PAY Auctiva cause it fits my life style and listing practices!
So I hope they will look into this
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I use the exact uploaded images that I first upload for my Auctiva images...so they should be the exact same pictures when selected from my already uploaded ones - correct? In fact image #1 is already loaded in most cases and I just choose the others that have been uploaded already...so somewhere in the transfer they are getting smaller and smaller...sort of like Alice Wonderland!
I'll keep checking back and I won't file a support case in hopes that together the Auctiva Community and eBay can get on the same page! I DO NOT want to stop using Auctiva..it works for me and I've been with you for a long time now.

Auctiva MIKE D.
This is so important because there is a WORLD of difference in how the listings show up on MOBILE..and it seems that that is the norm now-people listing and buying with the Mobile Phones. (Don't know if I would EVER be able to list using my fat fingers and my tiny keys on my phone!) BUT the numbers for mobile selling and buying are staggering so this needs to be addressed and fixed with eBay.
Thanks.
MIKE D. could this be the answer...Keyword here in Auctiva's own description is THUMBNAIL!

How can I add these thumbnail gallery images to my listing?
While creating a listing, check the "Enable Optional eBay Gallery Images" box below the Auctiva Image Selection section. Select the images you want to show as thumbnails in the eBay Gallery. Note: these images must already be uploaded to your Auctiva account before they can be selected.

MIKE D. Just wondering. My friend uses Sellers Sourcebook. She takes her pictures at 640x480.
I was the one that told her about selecting optional ebay images so she too could have more gallery 'above the fold on the left hand side'
So even though SSB calls it something different, she checked that box. ALL of her listings now have zoomable feature. I have been taking my pictures very large I guess. I thought the bigger the better! But perhaps I am wrong.
Should I be taking them smaller?
Choices I have on my camera are 640x480, 1600x1200, 2048x1538, 2592x1944, and 3264x2488 which is what I have always used. None of these sizes match the 'resize' number that auctiva recommends? VERY CONFUSED. (so what's new!)
Hi pattycyn,

I'm going to reserve speculating further on the cause of this problem until we are able to get some information back from eBay's technical team about the examples we sent them. Regardless of whether eBay needs to fix something on their end or we need to change how these images are submitted, we will do what we can to get to the bottom of this.

I am confident that the size at which you are taking your images is not the problem but, given that your camera is currently set to take images with dimensions much greater than can be hosted on our site, you may find that you can upload images more efficiently if you make an adjustment to that setting.

As it stands now, our site is able to host images with dimensions up to 1280 x 1024 px so, if you upload image files that are larger than that, they will to approximately those dimensions. If you set your camera to “1600x1200”, less resizing will be necessary during the upload process and your images will still be as large as they can be once uploaded.

W@W!!!! "PATTYCYN" you are the man...oh, woman!!
I could never think straight enough to do all of this much less write it!!!

Jose Mimi....can you post a couple of your listing links that previously had the zoom??? NOT for me or because I don't believe you....but so that auctiva will be able to SEE that at one point they had them and something has gone HAYWIRE. Yes, they could go into your account...but.....if here it is easier for them to see without searching far.

Frankly, for myself I do not know that they ever had them with zoom...as random search 3 months back I could not find any that did have it.

I did just get the promised call back that I waited on yesterday. unfortunately, I missed call as was not expecting it today. But they left message.

They said, technical support got back with them and it is size issue. Apparently my images are hitting ebay in the 200 range, though auctiva site shows they are right sized (not all are, but the ones ebay and I discussed are.

**************Auctiva...THIS IS URGENT!!! HOLIDAY SHOPPING IS AROUND THE CORNER!!!**************

****Figuring, 30 day list cycles. that is only 3 cycles maybe 4 for depending on dates you start. That is NOT much!!! **************

WHY would anyone want to buy from us, when they can see the fine detail on other items but not on ours!!

This has been a true deal breaker for me on buying things lately. I am able to zoom in and look at details on items....so will surely be deal breaker for others during holiday!!

Auctiva...seems if you can get on the ebay Radio to celebrate 14 years, you would have someone you could go to that could get to bottom of this quickly!!! Also, seems a 14 year relationship there would be someone, a human that is the "TO GO" person in ebay.

My OPINION is this is a MUST for holiday selling!!!! We have to be able to compete with others who are listing similar items.

Other members???? Is zoom working on your listings?????

Thanks
I have decided NOT to waste ANY time on this 'problem'. I don't think we ever had the zoom. I think, especially for the MOBILE purchasing escalation, we should at least have more than ONE picture available for those buyers who are using their phone. (Billions of them!!) SO, I am loading the pictures to my listing as usual, and checking the enable eBay images box...so that at least I have more than ONE picture for all those buyers (lol) to see my items in various views WITHOUT having to scroll or tap to another view. That we, I am at least on a more level playing field (viewing field) with other buyers. That is just my decision for now. IF IT AIN'T LISTED..HOW'S IT GONNA SELL???
So at least get those listing up, with at least 4 pictures. Take some precious time and view YOUR listings on your smart phone. Then look at other peoples listings, perhaps in your same category, so you can compare what the searching buyer is seeing. That is at least what I am doing (because my husband told me to!) He kicks me in the butt when he thinks I am spending too much time on research (is there such a thing!?) or if I am trying to make my listings too beautiful..(huh?!?) SO my friends, let's just get our treasures (lol again) listed and move on and see what happens. I heard something that I think is becoming more and more true...Buyers don't read your listings, they scan them! So get those pictures (which they say are worth a thousand words) by enabling eBay images..and let's see what happens! I also have learned that I was taking my photos WAY too big so I am setting my camera at the setting for 1600 x 1200. I was taking them at 3264 x 2448 which was why it took them so long to upload to my computer and then to Auctiva. So happy listing and learning. Until we talk again... L I S T
As far as I am concerned this ball is in Auctiva court and them and ebay need to bounce it back & forth and come up with who it is that has problem, there is nothing else we can do ....as usual we are the monkeys in the middle of their issues.

Thanks for all of your investigative reporting....appreciated.

I am listing as usual, sure do not put stops on for ebay - auctiva issues, but have had 2 or 3 buyers specifically ask for photos of a closer view... on items that had good pictures (several but they like the detail and asked one asking for the MOUSE ENLARGER ) that is what made me even look at them to see that this was missing. Older people (and my husband) do not use phones for shopping, as it is hard for them to learn and see items on phone. Same with detail, I think they have harder time seeing and that the zoom helps them a lot.

As far as my phone listings...I like them, and think the phone market is HUGE....BUT if ones items appeal to older shoppers not having the zoom is a problem. Actually most of the time when I buy I put inspect item closely on computer...if it passes then it goes on my watch list...then if I am out will buy from phone...BUT my first inspections are thorough and and do not make phone unless I have inspected photos carefully usually with zoom.

Auctiva...we do need fix for this to me this is URGENT!!! I want to attempt to be sell to ALL markets, not just the young or techie type. Lets face it, owning a phone like these is an expensive luxury in todays economy and some people just do not have them. Also, a lot of people do not feel secure buying on their cell phones. I actually buy on mine but do not pay from it. Otherwise we are really hitting only a younger generation or those who can afford extra gizmos and gadgets like luxury phones. Frankly a poor mans money spends just as good as a rich mans when they buy from me.

Just my thoughts...Auctiva????

Auctiva...I just happened to notice in searching for something today, that there are other sellers listings that have the mouse zoom feature that show Auctiva templates. So it appears that unless people are going in and revising their listings in ebay system that at some point this did work properly and something somewhere has gone haywire. I doubt these people have gone into ebay and edited listings, because some of these people have 1,000 + listings and I feel they would be on the forums wanting it fixed.

Auctiva, Why would this happen that some sellers listings have with mouse over and others are not???

Thanks for help in understanding this.
Hi folks,

Just wanted to jump in here and give my experience on the topic. I listed a few things recently on eBay, and a couple of the listings had the zoom feature and others did not. No idea why, since the listings were launched at the same time, for the same durations and the photos were similar in size (I tend to take BIG photos!) I did nothing special to the listings that had the zoom feature--it just showed up in some of them at random. Our engineers looked into my account and couldn't pinpoint any reason why this happened.

We're still waiting to hear back from eBay to find out why some listings get the zoom and others don't, even though we're submitting them all in the same manner that we always have. Until then, unfortunately there's nothing we can do on our side to make sure the zoom feature is added to every eligible listing.

Mike will be sure to give you an update when we do hear back from eBay and hopefully get this mystery solved once and for all. I am just as baffled as you all are!

Rebecca
NEW FOUND PROBLEM.. NO ZOOM NO ENLARGE NOW!!! Some have zoom, some have enlarge, others have neither one???

Did not think about category....so checked my christmas stocking...some have zoom, some enlarge, some neither..none have both.

Also did date check of date I re listed figuring it could be issue at a time of night I listed, same thing...as with above...

I did some relists last couple of days...and now a lot have neither the zoom NOR the click to enlarge picture.

When I Originally called ebay one of ones I mentioned to them did not zoom, they said, it did on their end....so I figured well, it must be browser and forgot to go back and check in another.

I do wonder WHY ebay said some of my photos were 200 x 200??? (which obviously would not be but auctiva site showed normal size on ones we checked?)

Sooo guess digging deeper may be needed....since neither work right????

Well, for some reason everything I search for seems to have auctiva template...surprised as never noticed this before must be fate.

OK...To the point....auctiva...it is not just my listings that have neither zoom or click to enlarge on them.

I hope it is ok...here is someone else's listing. It has neither and he does not have the small thumbnail under photo, so with original thoughts of you can only have one picture and zoom does work...this would blow this to me.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...me=ADME:B:SS:US:1123

I am baffled on my own why neither are working....so frankly was glad someone else's did not have full function.

Hoping someone gets to bottom of this.....soon!!
You know..I am going to say what I think as this is an irritation that is costing us MONEY!!! Even if we have items listed, people can't enlarge/zoom photos. Obviously, if people do not use this, ebay would not have it and neither would most other sites. IT IS something SHOPPERS USE! (i know..I shop on ebay regularly and frankly, if persons items do not zoom enlarge, I go to another item...unless it is an item that I KNOW exactly what it will look like) ANY used item I use it on!!

17 days this has been going on this is absurd!!!

I have called ebay twice, at least. I got a phone call back within 3 days of my call on one in which I requested follow up via phone or email. (while I missed call, person did leave message.)

I find it hard to believe I am a measley customer out of millions of ebay sellers and got a call back (not that I am special it is not like a higher up called, but did get the call with some kind of explanation which I do not know is correct or not.

Auctiva can't get any answer or information on this and they are a service provider who has a 14 year relationship with ebay???? YES, 14 years...and here we sit!! Again, one would assume..... that they would have some priority and a go to person.

SURELY, auctiva has some kind of relationship with someone in ebay. Also, Auctiva, is your sister lister having same issue???? Surely, you have contacts there or have access to their forums so you can see if problems have been reported.

Frankly, we can follow up with ebay till the cows come home...but this is between auctiva and ebay again...and here we sit....again!! Waiting on two companies to duke it out!!

Auctiva...is there anything we need to be doing besides the calls we have already made...do we need to call daily or what???

Hi Community,

Thank you all for your continued interest in this situation. As I mentioned previously, we have been communicating with eBay's technical team about this matter over the past week and I am pleased to report that they have since been able to provide us with the information necessary to resolve the problem.

Although we were sending the full size versions of the Optional eBay Gallery Images to eBay all along, we have come to learn that the “zoom” and “enlarge” feature were being lost because eBay's system reduced the size of the images when making copies from the image URLs we were sending them.

We have just released a change that should prevent images that are placed in the Optional eBay Gallery Images area from being resized in this manner and, based on the testing we have done so far, the “zoom” and “enlarge” features are now working properly on listings posted through Auctiva including those that use multiple gallery images.

If you notice any remaining problems with this functionality with new listings that you post moving forward, please let us know and we will be happy to look into any remaining issues that may exist. Hopefully this is the only change that will be necessary to ensure these feature work as intended.

-Mike
