Images Loading all the time

I can't help you, but I can support your points.

I can't imagine anyone would want to hide their items from their customers (duh?!) but if you have lots of similar items it is good to be able to stop most of them from appearing in the scrolling window and looking boring.

I only want to use the gallery window, I have an eBay store and I want my customers to go there to view my items. No offence to Auctiva, but their store layout is pretty ugly and confusing for buyers who are still struggling to get their head around the concept of a store.

What you can do is to customise your window so that the 'see all my items' link (or whatever it is) is the same colour as the strip - so it effectively disappears. The search box will still be there, which will open results in Auctiva. You can hide the search text and button using the same camouflage techniques, but you are still left with the white text box (except that now people won't know what it is or what to click).

Thanks for your answer Neil! I did manage to make some of the text dissapear.. having trouble with the rest. Oh well, I'll play around with it some more.

My images are still 'loading' all the time.. is auctiva always like that or are they having trouble just now? I might go back to vendigo if the images can't be refreshed any faster. I wish I could make my own script to have a scrolling gallery..

Hi Nat, i don't really know, I'm new to it all myself.

I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt for the time being. I got an email response regarding my prices displaying incorrectly and it would seem that they are struggling a bit at the moment but they are working on it.

The only thing that stops me using Vendio is that I don't like their scrolling gallery, and I'm reluctant to pay for something I don't like. It stops scrolling permanently at the first click with no way to resume it, the text is hard to read and only appears briefly, non-square images have ugly white borders, and the category search is a virtually useless feature for most sellers whose products are buried deep in only one or two categories anyway (and I sell niche products which bear little resemblance to the main category header anyway).

The Auctiva gallery looks better with my pics, and I can hide repetitive items which is an excellent feature for me (Vendio looks boring with so many similar items scrolling past). The only real problems with the Auctiva gallery (apart from current glitchiness) are the links to my 'Auctiva' shop (I have an eBay shop which I want people to use) and it would appear that you can't use the code on your own web pages.

One thing I have found is that if you have more than one example of your gallery open at any time, you will get a lot more problems. I think it's just having them open on the same machine that's the problem.

The problem with writing your own gallery code is that you need to run it in conjunction with a web server - you can't have it as a self-contained script as that would violate eBay's rules for keyword spamming (all your other item titles would come up in a search).

We are in the process of transferring our hosted images on to new servers, which should increase the speed and reliability of our image hosting service. During this process, many users' images be unavailable or fail to load for periods of time.

This process should be completed by the morning of 2/17, at which point this issue should be resolved.
