Hi all, after talking with a few people it looks like MS Excel is the best thing to use for account keeping and order tracking. So does anyone have a template with all the formulas that I could pinch!!?? In fact if I could get a few different samples maybe I could create a hybrid and then post it up for people to use. I would like to create a XSL sheet that works on a month buy month basis.

OK, tell me what kind of functionality you need & I'll give you a figure & time expected.

I'd like to know:

1] What parameters need to be tracked?
2] Should this info have a user interface that is summarized or raw data or both?
3] Do you need access to the code?
4] Will you also need to track info for clients? How many?
5] Tell me anything you feel is important.
Hi Mat,
Not sure what sort of venture you have, but have you considered using MS Money?
I use it for my own books and also do book-keeping, payroll and VAT returns for several other small businesses - including a beauty salon, astrologer, builder and decorator, taxi driver, author, etc. The reports facility is quite extensive and gives cashflow info, transaction analysis, bank account balances, etc. I use the reports to submit to various accountants who prepare my customers' accounts and have had positive reports on the info provided. It's dead easy to set up and use after a little thought on the categories and payess have been set up.
