I'm trying to add international shipping to my listings.

I'm selling pins (or buttons, or badges, depending on your region) and they require only a small envelope for shipping. I can't get the listing to process as there's some error in my package dimensions.

I've tried every variation I can think of for envelope sizes - 11"x 4"x 1", 6"x 4" x .5", for example. Although this will be well under an inch thick, I rounded up the size to see if the whole number was more acceptable.

I changed from one shipping service to another and made different choices within those services to see if it made any difference.

It doesn't. My listing keeps getting kicked back to me with a "Calculated Shipping Package Dimensions" error.

How do I get this to work?

Don't use the " sign when adding measurements. The system recognizes the numbers as being in inches.

I am not sure that is your issue but you may want to make sure your dropdown says package or thick envelope. If you choose letter or large envelope there will likely be other restrictions to the dimensions.

alternatively you can try leaving out the dimensions
As for me, I have never put in package dimensions, and now tonight I can't get my item listed because my new listing gives an error saying, "One or more selected shipping services requires package dimensions be specified".

It's a regular size package - small to medium, weighing just over 3 lbs. I have Parcel, Priority, and UPS selected as I always do, but I've never seen this error message. How am I supposed to know what the size of the package will be? I haven't found a box yet. Sheesh!
It sounds like eBay may have automatically opted you into their new global shipping program which requires dimensions on items that previously you wouldn't need to indicate them for. I've read that eBay is automatically opting people in to that program without notifying them, so you may need to check your eBay settings to see if thats the case.

Here is a most recent article about eBay doing that on ecommercebytes:

Hi Community,

Thanks for helping to bring this issue to our attention. Our technical team is currently looking into what is causing these error messages to be returned and I will keep you all posted through this thread as soon as any additional information becomes available.

It appears that our lister page may now be requiring dimensions for at least one shipping service which should now require dimensions in error and, provided that is the case, we will be sure to get the issue resolved as soon as possible.

We apologize for any inconveniences this issue may be causing.

Hi Community,

We have just released an update to our site that is intended to resolve this issue which was causing these incorrect validation errors to be returned, so we do not expect you to encounter any more errors of this nature when only offering shipping service that do not require package dimensions.

If you notice any remaining issues of this nature moving forward, please don't hesitate to let us know.

-Mike
