Hi bgs-ray,

If you are receiving messages from eBay indicating that they are unable to generate your gallery images, it is most likely that the images that were being used in the gallery image slot were deleted from your account. If you would like assistance with this, please contact our customer support team using the form on the following page of our site: http://www.auctiva.com/help/requesthelp.aspx

Hi Community,

I have already posted this information in a few other threads, but I'm inclined to post it here as well in case another user stumbles across this thread while looking for information on the same issue.

The reason that several users are seeing images in their listings disappear now is because we had suspended our service that permanently deletes images that have been marked as deleted since early June and we just started it up again a little over a week ago. As a result, images that were marked as deleted and moved to the Deleted Images page as long ago as the beginning of June are just starting to get permanently deleted.

From what I have seen, the most common reason that users are accidentally deleting images in active listings is because our system can only make an association between an active listing and an image if that listing was a direct post or relist done through Auctiva for which the images were placed in the image management section. There is messaging to warn users about this on the Manage Images page and the introduction to the image deletion wizard, but we are working to make the messaging more clear based on the feedback we have received.

If you still have images on the Deleted Images page within your account, those images will also be permanently deleted soon. Therefore, it may be a good idea to go through your Deleted Images page and restore any of the images listed there that are still being used in active listings or closed listings that you plan on relisting.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to restore images that have already been permanently deleted. However, if these items have not received bids and can still be revised, you should be able to restore the images within the description of them by reuploading the images during the process of revising each one via the following process:

1) Locate your listing in your Saved Listings folder, make any necessary changes (reupload images), and save.
2) Click the "<HTML> icon to the right of the item on your "Saved Listings" page
3) Select All and copy the html in the popup window.
4) Locate the item on eBay and click the "Revise Item" button.
5) Scroll down to the "Description" section and then click the "HTML" tab above the description editor.
6) Delete the existing description HTML, paste the copied HTML in its place, and save your changes.

Once you have done that, if you also need to restore the header/gallery images in the listings, you should then be able to do so by revising them via the following process:

1) Visit the item on eBay.
2) Right-click the image you’d like to make your new header/gallery image and click “Properties”
3) Copy the image URL, which begins with http://...
4) Click the “Revise your Item” link at the top of the auction page.
5) Click the “Add Pictures” button.
6) Delete the text(if any) in the “Enter URL…” field(if any) and replace it with the copied URL.
7) Click the “Insert Pictures” button and save your changes

Revising your listings in this manner will cause the scrolling gallery to be removed from them however we are able to add that back from our end. If you end up revising some of your listings in this manner and you would like us to add the scrolling galleries back to them, please feel free to contact our customer support team using the form on the following page of our site: http://www.auctiva.com/help/requesthelp.aspx

Attention MIKE D. Auctive:

I am SO fustrated. I am getting conflicting statements from your customer service agent. Please read the following:

From one agent: "Hello again. If you originally list an item through Auctiva with Auctiva hosted images and you then relist that item directly through your eBay account, our system will no longer be able to tell the images in that listing are associated with an active listings. On the other hand, if you were to post an item through Auctiva with Auctiva hosted images and then relist the item through your Auctiva Closed Listings page, our system would still be able to recognize that the image is being used in an active listing.

Therefore, using the image deletion wizard could cause the images in active listings that have been relisted through eBay to get deleted and it is certainly possible that is what happened in your case."

From another (kyle): Hello, Thanks for contacting us regarding this matter. If you relist unsold listing through eBay and then use the "deletion wizard", the images would not be deleted from those listings.

The image deletion wizard will only delete images that are not being used in active listings, saved listings, or profiles."

ONE PERSONS SAYS IF YOU RELIST THROUGH EBAY, THAT YOUR ACTIVE LISTINGS IMAGES WILL BE DELETED AND THE OTHER SAYS THEY WILL NOT.

I HAVE OVER 180 ACTIVE LISTINGS THAT ARE NOW MISSING THEIR IMAGES.

PLEASE CLARIFY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi miffed,

I had actually noticed that just before I came across your last post to this thread, and I'm very sorry that you were misinformed. I just responded to your case and clairfied how the image deletion wizard works with respect to items that have been relisted through eBay. Feel free to follow up with me through your open support case if anything remains unclear.

Hi grannyjan,

The images in your listings will not just disappear simply because you relisted them through eBay. They would only disappear if you deleted the images in those listings from your Auctiva account and they are now in your Deleted Images folder. If there are no images in your Deleted Images folder, none of your images will disappear unless you go in and delete some images.

The reason that some people who relisted items through eBay are seeing their images disappear is because it has not been fully understood in some cases that our image deletion wizard and the other tools on our image management page that operate based on whether images are being used in active listings will only recognize the association between an image and an active listing if the active listings are direct posts/relists through Auctiva.

As a result, some users who have used our image management tools to delete all their images that are not being used in active listings have ended up deleting images that were being used in active listings because those active listings were relists of items with Auctiva hosted images that were done through eBay and therefore our system did not recognize that the images in them were being used in active listings.

I hope this helps.

Hi miffed,

In addition to not deleting images in active listings that have been posted or relisted through Auctiva, the image deletion wizard is also programmed not to delete images that are being used in saved listings or profiles that are stored within your account. Therefore, I suspect that the images in the items you have relisted through eBay that are still there were not deleted by the wizard because they were being used in saved listings or profiles.

It is also possible that these images are still in your Deleted Images folder and are due to be permanently deleted soon. Especially given what you have gone through so far, it may be a good idea to look through the images in your Deleted Images folder and restore any of them that you find that may still be in active listings.

-Mike
Mike,

I am thinking that these few items were not relisted at the time I did the first deletion with wizard.

I have already had one of your customer service agents restore ALL of my deleted pictures so I can delete manually. I DO NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH THIS AGAIN.

I do wish you would have made this matter MUCH clearer to us users when you initiated this "Wizard Image Deleter" . This will absolutely damage me and other store owners financially.
Hi grannyjan,

In order to see if you have any images that are due to be permanently deleted, please mouse over the "Images" tab within your account and select the "Deleted" option. If you find that you do not have any images on your Deleted Images page, then none of your images will be deleted unless you go to your Manage Images page and delete some.

If you find that there are images on your Deleted Images page that are still in use, you can ensure that these images are not permanently deleted by checking the boxes next to them and clicking the blue "Restore" button.

-Mike
