EDIT: And you thought some of my Avatars made you DIZZY Miss M!
Hi just popping in to say Happy New Year to the stalwart thread bearers.

Can't say I am bored enough to paste a strange incantation into my browser, mummy warned me about accepting gifts from strangers, and they don't come much stranger than on here Wink

Edit - I thought it may be a rotation, cum spinning arrangement with the sine and cosine transformations set to occur at intervals.
Good afternoon everybody, got up way late today, as usual, can't seem to get to sleep at night til late so my body clock's all screwed up. Staying up watching everybody gamble their fool heads off doesn't help either. Come the new year and I definitely need to get a better grip on my life.

Hey, you are all so welcome to come to Reno, 'The Biggest Little City in the World'. We'd have us a great ol time! The best weather is in October, 'not too hot, not too cold, just right said Goldilocks'. Excuse me I'm losing it. Even better, the best time is during the famed 'Hot August Nights' - ten days of 50's and 60's rock and roll and more custom cars than you will ever see in your life. It's a lot of fun. And don't forget Lake Tahoe. Double whammy time. Y'all come!

Happy New Year one and all!
OK Choo I forgot you were a computer nut like myself! Smile

Ninth it looks beautiful out there! I would love to get out that way sometime, as I said my sister lives in Vegas and I have yet to make it out there!
Been to France and Canada but never made it past the East Coast of the States!
Happy New Year everyone!

Just got home from work, bit I'm staying in tonite, getting lots of snow.....

Thanks for the AWESOME pics!! Do I see a road trip in the future ? Big Grin I'd love to get there in time for the hot August nights, the custom cars & rock & roll are right up my alley!

(I have my eye on a nice Sportster, I just might get it now Smile)

Can we all stay with you??????? Roll Eyes

I can just see your face, HA!
Well here I am trying to stretch this thread out till New Years. I'm sure it won't be a problem, all it takes it one post after New Years to break the ribbon. Meanwhile, just want to wish everyone Happy New Years from Reno, Nevada. The ball drops here in 1 minute, so just imagine the pictures below with the streets jammed with bundled-up people (28 degrees) waiting for the fireworks that will be let loose from the top of the downtown casinos for 20 minutes. It's not Times Square, but it is Party Time!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008!!!
The fireworks were great. I can see them from my front door since I only live a mile or two from downtown. The temp is down to 24 now, on its way to 20. There's a major storm coming in this weekend, supposed to drop 4 or 5 feet of snow in the mountains. Winter has been mild here so far but stand by. I can't believe it's 2008! Like I said before, let's all get rich this year ok? And, get those bags ready! It would really be a kick if Pete and Choo showed up, woowee. Big Grin
Illinois new law went into effect at midnight last nite...NO smoking in any restaurant, bar, or other public place. It used to apply only to Chicago, so I could still smoke at the restaurants we go to around my job at least (outside of Chicago) but not anymore Frown

EDIT__ How can you NOT smoke in a bar (if you're a smoker that is) Who can drink w/o a cigarette????? You smokers know what I'm talking about.
That stinks 8880 all these bleeding hearts out there doing their best to decide what is best for us. Come on if I am in a bar I darn sure expect to encounter cigarette smoke even if I am not a smoker. For the record I quit when I was 18 when ciggies went to $1 per pack and did not start again until I was 28 so have been in my share of bars without smoking also.
Kick myself in the tail for ever starting again. Stupid me I started again to try to get my ex-wife to quit! Told her every time she fired one up I was going to also!
Whoa, bad idea Taz...if I ever did quit I would certainly hope I never started up again, but one never knows. Gotta admit, I'm a little tired of feeling like an outcast....

It still blows me away when I see some of the old blk & wht movies, where everyone is smoking and no one gives it a second thought......'course back then they didn't know you could die from it I guess.

Well I gotta get ready for work, I'm sitting here like I have nothing better to do Smile I wish that were the case! Gonna check in later & see what's up.

Ninth--thanks for the great pics, we'll see you next summer (hee hee)

PETE---quit celebrating and post something!

EDIT--Choo, I really like your resolution Smile

Have a great day everyone Smile Smile
From about August this year in the UK smoking was banned inside all public places from minibuses to pubs, great.

Only snag is the fog created by the smokers clustered around outside of the venues.

Smoking on public transport has been banned for sometime.

But lucky you Steve your resolution to give up smoking will save you lots of money, I can't as I never started, my parents smoking actually put me off for life.

Think of it another way all those fat cats get stinking rich by killing off their customers who else can get away with that !

Another new year resoluion is "never make a new years resolution you cannot keep", seems I fail on that with my first one too, it's hopeless so why bother Wink
Happy New Year! xo
Hi ya'll. Wow! What a lot I missed... it's hard to know where to jump in here. lol Please do tell me if I missed anything important. Smile

Rats in the freezer. EEEeeeeewwwwwww!!! Not even in the days of pet snakes. Actually, it's probably more gruesome and I'll spare you the details. bleh!!!

No New Year's Resolutions for me.... gave that up several years ago because I never kept most of 'em anyway. lol

Road Trip - YEH! When should we leave (or arrive)? Are we stayin' with Ninth? Wink Low maintenance Miss M? Me too... surely we're somehow distantly related or something. Smile I have a great air mattress that's more like a bed, really comfy. Is there room for it, Ninth? I'll bring cookies. Razz Favorites?? Will Pete & Choo be able to make it? I hope so! Taz, are you high maintenance? I never pictured that from you. Red Face We'll have to see what we can do about that. Big Grin

I missed ya'll!
Yeah I am rather snooooty YA know! And of course I do have my image to maintain!
But since I saw you had cookies I though a wee bit of impropriety was in order!
I've just been sitting at the Puter all day shopping, actually just every 2 hours! Found a great website with some awesome giveaways that you just pay shipping on
Sounds like a cool site. I've been trying to refrain from shopping but feel it coming on since you got me fixed up and I'll have time soon. lol

Ain't it amazing what having cookies can do? Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

edit- and that image to maintain... does that have anything to do with you being high maintenance? Darn, I still just can't picture that from you! Wink
Shirley I think this was Pete's last post! Could not find any from him since?

Hi folks, just a quick surface before going back to curl up for a while. Thanks for your thoughts! Stevie is MUCH better now, thankfully. I am still feeling like carp, but it is improving, so on my way back. Sally seems to be over it too now. Last night my boy was watching his favourite TV program, You've Been Framed (don't know if you guys over there have that, or anything like it?) - anyway, he came over and sat on the arm of my chair and leant against me and put his arm round my neck, and spent the hour like that! And that from a kid who doesn't think cuddles and hugs are cool - I was well chuffed, I can tell you! Big Grin

Still haven't decided what treat to give him yet, but we will. OK my lovelies, I'm back off to bed for a while now, see y'all

Hopefully all is well with him and we hear from him soon! Smile

Glad you like the avi, just don't laugh TOO hard or your imaginary tonsils will really hurt!

I have not watched Twilight Zone for a long time.Always liked them but just got old for me? Maybe since it has been so long I should catch them again. I really do not watch much TV, I watch movies mostly on the computer.
Getting hit with snow right now, supposed to be around 6 inches total by tomorrow afternoon Mad
EDIT: If you are going to try to get anything on Retail Killer start F5ing about 2 minutes before the hour as they were starting a bit early for some reason?
Last edited by tazfrompa
I hadn't seen it in a long time either, then happened across the marathon. I watch TV and movies sometimes, then go a long time with it just on music channels. Last night, I alternated reading and channel surfing.

No snow here but it's suppose to get down to single digit with horrible windchills. brrrrr
I'll go be sure I'm still logged in and ready to go. Smile
edit... I wish I knew all the KB shortcuts. I'm still learning new ones but use F5 all the time and the ctrl a, s, c, x, and v ones.

Hi Miss Shirley...I have a bag of crap you can have hee hee!!

I got stuck at work a couple extra hours (you KNOW I'll always show up here Smile ) Then it took me a long time to get home, 6 degrees & real slippery.

Glad you had a good time but we missed you!!! So glad you're back...don't know where Pete has been tho hope he's ok.

Taz, I haven't had a chance to look at that website but I'm dying to. How was your New Year?? Smile
Are the freezer-rats still around? Bless your heart Miss M.

I found these... so true. lol
Let us know how ya fair with 'em Choo. Wink

A true Southerner can show or point out to you the general direction of "yonder."

A true Southerner knows exactly how long "directly" is - as in "Going to town, be back directly."

True Southerners know instinctively that the best gesture of solace for a neighbor who's got trouble is a plate of hot fried chicken and a big bowl of cold potato salad. (If the trouble is a real crisis, they also know to add a large banana puddin'.)

True Southerners make friends standing in lines. We don't do "queues," we do "lines." And when we're in line, we talk to everybody.

When you hear someone say, "Well, I caught myself lookin", you know you're in the presence of a genuine Southerner.

And a true Southerner knows you don't scream obscenities at little old ladies who drive 30 on the freeway - you just say, "Bless her heart" and go your way.

edit... Hi Taz. Smile
He was actually going to mail them at first...and didn't see anything wrong with that (typical guy, no offense Smile )

After I talked him out of it they wound up in the freezer, unbeknownst to me. UGH!!

Be back by later~~~~

"If they thaw out in the post then I won't need to worry, I think customs will smell a rat and send them back, ha ha, "

Choo you are so funny Big Grin Big Grin
Hey folks, I actually have an Auctiva question..

I have hundreds of closed auctions that I have not deleted because I usually end up using them again as 'sell similar' (easier than taking the pics over again). I see lately, when I do a search for one from last summer for example, it won't come up...it says 'not found'. And I look EVERYWHERE, saved listings, closed listings etc.

I searched for 'harley white' (I have the word white in the title) to see all the white shirts I had, it USED to show them all but now it doesn't.

Like with the templates sometimes, it seems you have to know the exact name of the title or it will not come up anymore.

Does it just do this when the listings get older? It's gonna be a real pain in the spring if I have to look page by page...I must be doing something wrong, but the fact that it worked before and not now makes me wonder if Auctiva changed something I'm missing????
Who dares to taint this thread with a real question I would report this as an off topic divergence if I could still remember what it was supposed to be about. Confused

On the other hand, hi, thought everyone had scarpered since yesterday Smile

edit - ok, I would not rely on it all still being on someone elses server from one year to the next so I keep all my originals backed up on my PC and associated machinery.

Can we get back to the usual free-for-all now Big Grin
Miss M you have violated the sanctity of this post with a question that actually pertains to something serious! For that scofflaw the tribunal hereby sentences you to 30 lashes with a wet noodle and a FREEZER full of FROZEN rats!

Seriously I do not know the answer to that question. Do you have everything arranged in folders? If so possibly time to go through and create some more folders that are more item specific.
I really have never encountered this problem so I am sorry I cannot be more helpful Confused

EDIT: Hi Choo glad to see you are not he only one THROWN by a REAL question
Or, perhaps it is just that you were away from this thread for too long so any extra shift may cause the same effect.

This is probably more addictive than incinerating old leaves in the most expensive way possible to achieve an early retirement from life.

Question or topic diversion as Ms M seems to have avoided my question about singing Happy Death Day to her frozen rats.

Is it true that organic cigarettes are made from camel dung ?
Seems kind of logical, organic usually refers to grown without artificial fertilisers etc, so why not skip the plant bit, powder the dung roll in in a piece of loo roll or newspaper and smoke it.

Strikes me a lot of people are already doing that judging by the foul smell from thier death sticks that waft my way.

Besides in some countries with very few resources I believe dung can be mixed with mud for building material so why not smoke it too ?

Edit - phew what are releif I thought you were saving them for a BBQ for unwelcome guest gannets.

Edit 2 - my post count is sometimes rising with replies to this thread rather than with each new thread I reply to or create. have we broken the forum software I wonder ?

Could be right Choo as I just got out of the shower and could not resist refreshing the thread!
Miss M I too LOVED pretzels but now they repulse me!
Hey I just happened to think! Is it possible that my TWISTED personality has something to do with my job?
Howdy ya'll.
I'm glad this thread's gonna keep going. Smile

Miss M, I never answered that I do smoke. I roll my own, but not with camel dung. yuuukkk! Big Grin The public place smoking ban has been around here for somewhere around 10 years. That's about when it came to include pretty much everywhere. You can still smoke in bars, far as I know... I haven't been out partyin' in so long, I don't even remember when was the last time. lol Time to head to Magoos!!! Still have those $$ for beers! Wink

Okay, since we've ventured there... lol
I have a really OT question. I'd appreciate you guys' opinions please? I found a maybe WooHoo! while shopping with the girls. A NOS pair of Fryes, 70's knee high stacked heels. Darn, I wish they fit me! They were stored very crappily and I've been cleaning 'em. There was a big black place that I got off with saddlesoap, and a few water spots that look pretty good now. Overall, they look great but are now darker in places. They really have a beautiful patina, though it's not quite blending the way I'd like. The color stated is taupe (which they weren't IMO anyway). One has the leather going inside for lining at 2 1/4" and the other goes to 4 1/4", then it's fabric below. One has a tannish heel tip and the other is black.

Questions: Should I go ahead and make them darker all over and what would I use to do that? I'm not sure I can get them to blend any better with mink oil or something else, though I love working on leather stuff and don't mind the time. And should I have one of the tips changed to match or leave them as is? There used to be a boot shop nearby but he's gone now. I don't even know where to go now, so thought about leaving 'em. What do ya think?

I bet this is gonna be forever long when it posts. Big GrinBig Grin
Hi Choo.
I didn't realize it's 8 hours, thought it was 5 or 6. I think it's 5 for Sexy St Pete and six for you. The time stamp I see is two hours behind my time. Smile

That's okay on the boots. lol Just anyone that has an opinion and suggestions. Big Grin

I saw your other thread, and of course had to reply. I hadn't seen it before or would've been there sooner. Smile
Well I always used to be up beyond midnight when I was single but then you get other reasons for having an early night Wink

At the moment my considerably better half is clicking away on her laptop so here I am, bit of work bit of play Smile

I added a comment on that too, scarey coincidence Eek

edit - aah, clicking stopped, time for bed I hope my mailbox is full of interesting nonsense tomorrow morning, ninth better turn up soon for the approaching 1,000th reply Smile
Hi folks - Sorry to be so MIA lately. I've just been out and about trying to get ready for the 'record breaking, monster' storm that's starting to crunch down on us. They're calling for winds of 150mph up in the passes, with 5-7ft of snow, and 60 to 80mph here in Reno. Everybody's stocking up on food, gas, and other supplies just in case, because we get supplied by trucks coming over the Sierras which will definitely stop for several days. I know, compared to ChiTown and PA it's no big deal right? Hummm...

Miss S, those cooookiiies are just tooooo teemptiiing!! (I'm starting to droool! Where's my towel?!) Wink Big Grin
Hi Ninth!
I'm so happy to see ya here and I've missed you! Smile (ya'll don't read that. lol)

I should watch the weather more often... I had no idea. So you're all stocked up, battened down the hatches and are all snuggled in warm?

edit... deleted some lest I scare ya again Ninth. Smile
Taz, my sound isn't working again. I dunno what's going on with it cause the stereo tests give me both sides and sound great. Think I'll ask Miss M for your email after all and will appreciate your help if you don't mind.

Hi Shirley Girl, I've missed you too, I mean what good is a fly without a sly, shiny spider to trick him? Deleted too late, I already saw that unguarded comment, 2nd thoughts not allowed. ANY kind of cookies? Damn, you sure know how to turn up the heat - I need to open the door and let some cool air in here. Yup, all battened down and snuggled in, well not quite, all I really need is a supply of home-made Texas cookies (personally delivered of course, Mmmmm... Wink(ya'll don't read that GAR stuff. Big Grin )
Miss M, my ribs hurt! Big GrinBig Grin Not the same kind of fairy. I've done two this evening, and it's almost scary how close those things are. lol

Here's the link. You should do it. Smile
http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=1328

I'm a Raven Fairy. hmmm
You are the fallen angel of fairies. You look at evil not as a terrible thing, but a necessity for spiritual balance in this world. You are very confident about who you are, and you tend to be rebellious.

Sorry... now back to Ninth's state of Delirium. I like that much better! Wink
