I had a minor problem with an auctiva listing that was
subsequently, and satisfactorily resolved with the
help of a very nice Auctiva support person.

While trying to figure out what the problem was, I posted on
the sellers board on ebay asking for help. I got a
bunch of answers, which was helpful, and then someone
who is registered as "auctiva.com" weighed in saying
he'd "seen my case" and basically I was wrong and not
only wrong but lying to the board. I'm VERY concerned.

Wink Confused Confused Not only was he incorrect-I got a very nice reply from
the auctiva person-but what the heck is going on with
auctiva people randomly posting on boards about a
customer's support case?

here's the thread.

Please let me know what's happening about this. It
feels defamatory, it feels like a privacy violation,
and it looks bad for Auctiva. Not to mention, what's
with allowing this person to have an ebay id like
"auctiva.com" and buy things? What if they're a bad
customer or seller? What does that look like for
ebay-and auctiva?

but threatened to post it
We asked for your permission. There was nothing threatening about it.

You said something along the lines of "I dare you to show me where I said..." and so we asked if we could.

It would be nice if the original thread was still there but someone had it deleted, and it wasn't me.

You are incorrect. The source of the problem from your support case was not caused by our system, and we did not say it was.
Wow! This reminds me of that case where the whole foods CEO started posting anonymously on chatboards about WIld Oats.

Given the fabulous reception your post (because I'm assuming it's you since you know so much about it) got on the board, I'm amazed you're willing to risk so much to answer one piddly post about such a piddly problem in such an unprofessional way.
Shall I forward you the email, Jeff, I received stating that it was certainly possible it was auctiva's "fault"?
I do wish the thread was still available. It would be interesting to forward it to people. As it is, I'm happy to discuss with your legal department the appropriateness of discussing my case at all on an ebay chat board. Certainly makes you wonder what other stuff you're sharing.
It's funny, because the original problem was so not a big deal, but your weird postings on ebay raise issues about privacy, don't you think? Seriously, considering how big and successful auctiva is-how self destructive are you to post like that?
wow. Just wow.
Here it is, hon. I sure wish I had the thread, but after I emailed my buddy at Meg W.s office it disappeared. I didn't report it, but I'm wondering if they just forwarded it or something. Please-all defensiveness aside-consider what and why you're doing what you're doing. It seems like an awful waste of your time...

I specifically cancelled the other scheduled auction and yet it ran nevertheless. Now I have 2 buyers for the same item. I CANCELLED the other auction when I changed it to run a day early.

Please fix this.

Operating System: xxxxxxxx
Browser: xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
I am sorry to hear that you have had this experience. However, there is nothing that we can do. While it is possible the system is at fault, there is no way to confirm if you correctly canceled the scheduled listing in question.

I can only recommend that you contact eBay's customer support for guidance on how to handle this situation.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, requests, or concerns.

Thank you,
Todd K.

I now have a better understanding of how you may have come to believe that it was possible it was an Auctiva glitch.

I don't think we have a way to edit our posts. We specifically don't have a way to do that becuase then support people could change what they've said and it would make it impossible for the support manager to hold them accountable. I'll ask but I've never seen a way for us to edit a support reply after the fact.
Hi Skippies,

Jeff just asked me to check into whether we have the capability to edit our support replies after they have been issued, and I just verified that we do NOT have such cabability. Therefore, if you did not edit that statement after pasting it into your October 11, 2007 06:07 PM forum post, then how it got changed is a mystery. Creepy, indeed!

Unbelievable.

Well, I guess someone posting quasi anonymously on ebay-and who posts a picture of himself in his triathelete costume along with it-is someone who is pretty ready to go to the mat with anyone who has any problem with anything involving "his" company, however small. It must be pretty exhausting. This morning I would have said, impossible. A ceo doesn't change an email to some peon customer to make himself look better. On the other hand, ceos don't usually reply so unprofessionally-and so personally-to random people either, and yet, lookee here.

I wish I had some amusing rejoinder for you-but I think I'll just walk away with the amusing anecdote for friends and family of yet another quasi public figure willing to risk everything over stupid carp.

Skippies, not picking an argument. I just figured it was core since you said auction. I have been on eBay for almost 8 years and I check my auction ads as to who is bidding on them. If they have a bad feedback record, you may want to cancel their bid and ban them, which is perfectly alright with eBay. Now BIN is a different thing, but since you are using Auctiva, they will show up in store listings immediately.
