HI, WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO GET A BUTTON INCLUDED ON THE ACTIVE LISTINGS PAGE FOR REPLACING TEMPLATES. FOR NOW IF I WANT TO REPLACE A TEMPLATE IN AN ACTIVE LISTING, I HAVE TO:
1.CHANGE THE TEMPLATE IN THE SAVED LISTING 2.THEN SAVE IT
3.THEN GET THE HTML & COPY IT
4.THEN GO TO ACTIVE LISTINGS
5.THEN CLICK REVISE
6.THEN PASTE THE HTML INTO EBAYS HTML WINDOW AND SAVE IT.

ONE LITTLE BUTTON COULD ELIMINATE ALL OF THAT. A CHANGE TEMPLATE BUTTON WOULD BE GREAT, YOU CLICK IT AND IT GOES TO THE TEMPLATE WINDOW WHERE YOU CHOOSE A NEW ONE AND SAVE IT TO YOUR ACTIVE LISTING. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A GOOD IDEA? I WELCOME YOUR COMMENTS

In a perfect world we would list our auctions and never rethink something we've done..but unfortunately its not a perfect world..and many times I have listed an item and then afterwards while creating another one, come across a template and thought to myself, wow that template would have been perfect for my other listing.
Also many times I will list an item and then my wife and kids will see it eventually and tell me its ugly or they dont like it...and chances are if they dont like it no one else will either...so I go and change it manually.
It would just be nice to have that option if you find you need to do it. Just a suggestion and if I can do it manually, then it can also be done automatically. Its just a matter of programming. Thanks for the reply any input is appreciated Smile
It really isn't just a matter of programming. Once the auction leaves Auctiva and is posted on ebay it is out of Auctiva's hands. They can't make the revisions for you Wink

I guess I do live in a perfect world when it comes to my listings because I rarely have to make any changes AFTER its listed.

Wish the rest of my world was perfect as well Big Grin

~LOL~
An image can easily be replaced but not a whole template. For example I keep a blank image in all of my listings like this one:

http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/0/6/3/4/4/webimg/2783043_o.jpg

If lets say a huricane is coming my way and I want to let my buyers know I had to leave town I can make an image that says this and just replace the old image with the new image and it will appear in ALL my listings.

When you replace an image you are just switching it on Auctiva but the img URL stays the same on ebay. You can't do that with a template.

Would be nice but I wouldn't hold my breath Wink

Actually, that's not correct. Auctiva's templates are essentially no different that the images. The HTML coding of the listing includes the URL for the template housed on Auctiva's servers, just like the images we put in our listings. When someone browses the listing, the browser goes and gets the template image from Auctiva along with the other photo images, and plops them in the browser window. Presto, beautiful listing!

So, that being said, all you'd have to do is find the url name of the template that was originally used, and change it to the url name of the other template. That is not easy, but it is not too difficult, either. Its a matter of FINDING the URL reference that can be a bit daunting, as it is about halfway through the whole loooooong list of HTML for the particular listing.

You'd still have to change it at eBay (do a revise listing) because they have the HTML coding for that listing.

Auctiva might be able to program something to make this change, but it most likely would be something of a reverse programming [like: IF background="http://ti2.auctiva.com/ti/books3_left_panel.jpg" valign="top"><img src="http://ti2.auctiva.com/ti/books3_left_panel.jpg"> and IF userid=xxxxxxx, THEN background="http://ti2.auctiva.com/ti/flower_left_panel.jpg" valign="top"><img src="http://ti2.auctiva.com/ti/flowers_left_panel.jpg">]. If they just changed the template without an ID qualifier, then the template would be changed for everyone!

Doing that would be a big strain on their resources/servers, I would think. Dunno for sure, though.
Ah well it was just a suggestion. I guess it isnt really very often you would need to change a template. But right now I have the fireworks template on one of my auctions and the top left corner does not load properly a square about 1 1/2" is out of alignment with the rest of the template. I didnt change anything on it either so auctiva may want to look into that and find out whats wrong with the code for that template. Thanks for all the replies
earlier in this thread someone described how to revise a template. Can you please tell me how to do that?
I don't mind the revise, and the copy/paste html code, but I don't know how to get the html code.
It would save me alot of $ because at this point I hve been closing the auctions and starting them over if I need to make a change.
Stupid, I know, just sometimes a mistake bugs me enough to make me not care about the loss. (OCD I think!)

Hi shelly, After you get the template you want, save your listing and then go to your saved listings page. Once you are on your saved listings page..you will see a button at the top that says: Get HTML. Just check the box next to the listing you want to get the html for and click that button. Then copy it and then go into to your active listings and check the box for the listing and click the revise button and paste it into ebays editor. Hope this helps!!
