Hi,

The only automatic resize Auctiva does is during the upload. They will resize an uploaded image to a maximum of 1024 pixels width by 768 pixels height to store as the "orignal". They also create a "standard" image at maximum of 400 x 300, which is used along with supersize link for their various image display methods.

If you need the images at specific sizes for your listing, you would need to resize before or after upload to get exact 600 x 400.

Danno,
Thanks. I appreciate you taking the time to answer. That helped.

Another question: Is there a "best size" to resize to? I only use 600 x 400 because people were having problems with screen size when they placed their photos on the left and that was what someone recommended. Sometimes I'll be placing photos on the left and sometimes I'll place them only at the top.

Hi,

That's a difficult question as there are many possible solutions including use of Auctiva's standard image with their click to supersize.

I checked your Store link to see if I could find any example listings, but found 0.

I don't know if you are using your own template or a stock Auctiva template and how you are inserting images.

600x400 (3:2 aspect ratio) makes me think you are either using a Pro Digital SLR camera for the pictures which (some) do operate with that standard ratio or are cropping to that ratio. Is that portrait or landscape? That ratio is often used by the clothing sellers (portait of standing model/manny) with one vertical column of pics and the other of description.

Not knowing exactly what you sell and how makes me hesitate on the answer, other than 600 wide is possibly a little too crowed for text at right or left.

Danno,
My previous listing have been quite varied. Many of my upcoming listings will be trading cards. Most of the cards will be oriented vertically, but there will be some that are horizontal (costume cards, etc.).

I'll be using an Auctiva template, and I'll scan the cards for the photo.

In the past I've gone with a photo at the top and then the rest on the left side. Those would be items with multiple photos. For the trading cards I'll probably go with one or two photos at the top, depending on the card.
Hi,

Still not 100% certain, but it sounds like you may be using the Toolbar on the Description box editor of the one-page lister to insert images. When you do that, you don't get the supersize feature and you do have to be cautious of the size of the original image stored OR you need to size the image by use of a height/width on insert.

With image at top (not the eBay one at upper left) and separate in stacked column on the side, a custom template might help.
