Totally understandable. If I lived where you do and it was the middle of the day I'd be pulling my hair out too. If I didnt shave my head at lesat I would be.

Epiphany... maybe that's why I started shaving it just around the time we started working on our new Auctiva site 18 months ago.

eBay used to do their maintenances for years from 1am - 3am GMT -8. Then they went to 11pm-1am. I used to do ours for around 5-6 years at that time. Once a week, every week I'd stay up till 3am+ doing it. It's horrible. Now eBay has spent tons of money and doesnt have these maintenance windows visible to users. That's great! It makes them a lot more money. I totally see why they do it. Unfortunately for us we have 1 database, not dozens, and we have to work on it once a week to keep it optimized. We want to improve this in the future to spread things out and do as much as we can without being offline, but that takes planning, time, servers, a lot of money.
